This pretty cottage in the peaceful, traditional fishing village of Boulmer in Northumberland is set just 20ft from the beach with spectacular views out to sea. Wake up to the sound of the waves and stroll through the garden and onto the beach via your own private steps. Enjoy days splashing around in the sea, exploring the waterfront or striding out along Northumberland’s Coastal Path. You’ll be able to enjoy the outdoors and the enviable beachfront position late into the evening, doing a bit of stargazing in the beautiful dark skies.
The cottage feels warm and welcoming from the moment you step inside. You’ll be greeted by the long galley kitchen where you can rustle up the family favourites as you enjoy the view through the glass doors. There’s a dining area at the other end and a small patio area beyond this with bi-fold doors so you can open up the space on sunny days. If you’re an early riser, make yourself a cup of Nespresso coffee to take out in the garden and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular sunrises.
There’s a large living area with comfy sofas in front of windows offering stunning views of the sea. This is a cosy spot to get everyone together in the evenings for a board game or two and to plan the next day’s adventures. When it’s time for bed, there are four bedrooms to choose from, comfortably accommodating up to six adults and two children. You’ll find a double room, a bunk room for the kids and a family bathroom on the ground floor. Head upstairs to find the luxurious main bedroom with its king size bed and sea views. There’s also a freestanding bath in the ensuite, the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring. Next door you’ll find another bedroom with a super-king size bed, promising a great night’s sleep.
There’s plenty of exploring to do in this part of Northumberland, from visiting the magnificent Alnwick Castle to discovering treasures on the shelves of Barter Books, the UK’s oldest second-hand book shop. Head along the coastal path right from the front door of the cottage and discover hidden bays and coves as you go. You can also book a boat trip out to The Farne Islands to see puffins and seals. Round off the day with a hearty pub dinner at The Ship Inn at Newton-by-the-sea, enjoying the beautiful sea views.
