An important centre in the region, the village is full of enchanting narrow lanes and lies around 10km from the notable archeological site of Su Romanzesu, dating back to the 16th century BC and well known for its amphitheatre. The village itself is home to a 19th-century church, San Giorgio Martire, on Piazza Giorgio Asproni, a pleasant spot to stop and soak up everyday life in the region of Nuoro.

Su Lithu’s traditional Sardinian cuisine is not to be missed. Among the local specialities on offer, try sa cordedda - braised lamb with tomatoes and herbs – or the tempting sas casattinas – oven-baked sour cheese tarts with parsley. Amazing wild herbs soups, smoked meats and traditional desserts made with honey and almonds will leave you in no doubt that Su Lithu knows real Sicilian cooking inside out and, even better, you can enjoy it on the romantic terrace overlooking charming Bitti.

Further west, Nule is home to another archeological must-see in the form of its iconic Nuraghe, while those who seek nothing more than a blissful beach can unwind in Berchida, Orosei, Cala Gonone or Cartoe – all less than 1 hour’s drive from enticing Su Lithu.
