Relax with your loved one in peace surrounded by rolling fields, lakes and 20 acres of woodland, lit by flickering torches around a medieval settlement. If you’ve ever wanted to escape to a tranquil nature-filled environment where you can switch off from an increasingly frantic world, Xanadu can provide you with a unique and romantic experience that will help you to do just that.
Xanadu is a beautiful, artisan, handcrafted geodesic glamping pod which appears to hover above a lake as if by magic. With its handmade copper roof, minimalistic interior and stunning angles, both inside and out, you are guaranteed a special and memorable break from the norm.
You reach your cosy hideaway via your own private bridge over the lake which accesses a beautiful decking area suspended over the water. What better place to sit out on a warm evening and surround yourself with nature? Dragonflies, woodpeckers, owls and deer can all be spotted from your secluded pod. And you also have access to a beautiful, spacious outdoor rainfall shower where you can enjoy a soak under the open sky.
The interior is spacious, open-plan and offers a stunning mixture of geometric shapes, including pentagonal and triangular windows. The impressive zen space is comfortable yet functional, minimalist yet with stylish touches and rustic wooden accents. The bedroom area features a comfortable king size bed with sumptuous bedding and mood lighting while the seating area offers a table and a sofa where you can eat a leisurely meal or just relax with a book. The kitchenette area contains a microwave, fridge and kettle so you can rustle up hot drinks and snacks to eat out on the decking to the accompaniment of the sounds of nature. A modern hexagonal bathroom has a toilet and basin so you don’t need to leave your snug retreat.
You’ll find a shop, pub and restaurant within walking distance and the pretty market towns of Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are under 15 minutes away in the car. Nearby Bude has superb sandy beaches with excellent surfing and breathtaking coastal walks. Dartmoor National Park is a treat for nature lovers and the nearby Tarka Trail is a must for both walkers and cyclists. Golf and horse riding are available nearby too. Black Torrington is just a short walk away and the village inn is the perfect resting point for some refreshments to finish off the day before you stroll home. You can also enjoy the on-site eclectic, old world, fully licensed pub 'The Reforge Inn' which is a museum of curios, artefacts and antiques and has been preserved as it was since the 1960s.
