Tucked away among the stunning Welsh mountains is the beautiful Wye Glamping retreat. Choose between handcrafted canvas or bespoke wooden yurts, at this off-grid site on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
There are three canvas yurts - named Barley, Wheat, and Maize - with each sleeping four adults or a family of five. Set upon a wooden deck with the mountains on one side and fields on the other, they are the ideal spot for those looking to get back to nature. Inside, each yurt is slightly different, but they all have a king-size bed and two singles - as well as an extra child’s bed or travel cot available upon request. The whole place is heated by the cosy wood burning stove, while guests can stargaze from the comfort of their own bed through the huge skylight.
There are also two timber-framed yurts, called Holly and Bramble, built using locally reclaimed materials. These are situated among the trees and have a den-like atmosphere to them. Designed with a similar setup to their canvas counterparts, they also sleep four adults or a family of five and have a king-size bed and two singles.
Each of the five pitches are fully self-contained and also have an outdoor shelter, fully equipped kitchen hut, and a fire pit/barbecue. There is also a picnic bench and deckchairs for making the most of the outside space, while a private compost loo and luxury shower room is for the exclusive use of whoever is staying in that yurt.
Wye Glamping is the ideal spot for getting off grid and leaving the stresses of everyday life behind. With nature right on the doorstep, guests can easily get out and about to explore the Welsh countryside, with plenty of hiking opportunities taking people up mountains or past waterfalls. Alternatively, there are cycling and pony trekking routes, as well as canoeing and wild swimming for those who love the water. The town of Hay-on-Wye and its famous festival of literature and arts, along with its array of independent shops, cafes, and bookstores, is also only four miles away.
