Built by Ben Law and his team that created the famous Woodman’s Cottage on the Channel 4 programme, Grand Designs, Withyfield Cottage is inevitably a build of the highest quality; blending traditional and modern construction techniques to create a rural and contemporary, eco-friendly property.
Set on a working dairy farm in the heart of West Sussex the cottage blends seamlessly into its natural backdrop. The walls are built entirely from locally sourced timber, the roof is handmade from cedar shingles and the insulation is straw from a local arable farm. The addition of the solar panels and modern design, makes this a true statement of modern country living.
Inside, locally sourced products and craftsmen have been used throughout to ensure that the finish is of the highest quality, reflecting indulgent luxury at its best. All interior doors are beautifully crafted from local oak; the kitchen has been handmade by local tradesmen; and the chandelier built by a local blacksmith. The beamed vaulted ceilings and classic wood burner are the natural finishing touches that give Withyfield Cottage a timelessly stylish feel.
Based within 160 acres of farmland, Withyfield Cottage itself is perfectly positioned for those wanting to see the countryside at its best. You can tour the family’s dairy farm, go wildlife spotting in the local woodland, venture out fishing on the River Adur or take a trip out to the new South Downs National Park. There are also plenty of traditional towns and villages to visit with bags of charm; where you’ll find markets with local produce, old fashioned tea rooms, quaint high street shops and even a preserved running steam train. Once you’ve worn yourself out exploring there are also 4 country pubs within a 4 mile radius, where you can rest your weary legs. There really is something for everyone at this idyllic rural hideaway.
