This beautiful cabin is located in the western corner of Sullivan County's Catskill Mountains. It is nestled on a 130 acre farm in historical Hankins, a hamlet in upstate New York. With New York City only a two and a half hour drive away, this is the perfect place for a short break. The stunning rural setting is ideal for simply relaxing for the weekend, but if you do want to explore there are local trails, fishing lakes and swimming ponds.
The cabin itself is located about an eighth of a mile from the main house on the property. Inside it is spotless and beautifully decorated in a minimal rustic style, with some fabulous personal touches and comforts to add to your stay. There is one full size bed with plump pillows, crisp sheets and warm blankets, so it is best suited for couples. There is a bathroom with a Japanese style soaking tub and WC. If you want to know what is going on the outside world there is a radio with access to local channels.
When it comes to food and drink, there is a French press with local roasted coffee provided, a flask of whiskey is also on offer. You can bring your own food and store in the Coleman cooler, cook on the Weber grill, and get those s'mores on the go over the fireplace. The owner can discuss in-cabin dining options which are available upon request.
Outside is a deck where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view of rolling country, and even spot some of the abundant wildlife like deer and wild turkeys. There is an outdoor shower.
If you want to explore the surrounding area, Hankins has some historical sites. About half an hour’s drive away is the vibrant town of Calliccon, which is great for shopping and antiquing. It has a 1940's movie theatre, plenty of restaurants and a year round farmers market.
