This beautifully converted 16th century farmhouse is located just four miles from Bude on Cornwall’s north east coast. Set between two nature reserves and close to some of the county’s best surfing beaches, this is a great spot for friends and families to enjoy the outdoors, well away from the busy everyday. The farmhouse has been thoughtfully converted over 15 years to create light-filled interiors and an extension has been added with huge windows and stunning views over the surrounding fields. After a day walking along the coastline, braving the waves at the beach or exploring the local towns and villages, The Farmhouse is the perfect spot to relax and put your feet up.
Step inside this beautifully furnished house and it will be little surprise to learn that the owners have a background in fashion and design. Original features, such as the 16th century inglenook fireplace, have been preserved and set alongside a mix of vintage finds, travel souvenirs, mid-century pieces and bold splashes of colour. This result is a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, inviting you to make yourself at home straight away.
There are three large living areas in the farmhouse offering plenty of space for everyone to relax and do whatever they fancy, whether that’s getting stuck into a film in the snug or helping get dinner ready in the kitchen. The large kitchen-diner is located in the glass extension at the rear of the house and opens up onto the terrace. On sunny days, bring your meals outdoors or make use of the Gozney pizza oven.
There are four bedrooms in total, all equipped with comfy mattresses, crisp, fresh bedding and fluffy towels. You’ll find two king size rooms, a double and a twin room, making the house great for families as well as trips away with friends. There are luxurious Haeckels toiletries waiting for you in the two family bathrooms and the main bedroom also has an en-suite.
Outside, the large garden is great for families with a grassy area for games. While the kids are exploring the wooded area, enjoy the planting in the lovely sheltered part of the garden or the prairie grass and colourful verbena in the gravel garden.
With the border between Cornwall and Devon close by, there’s plenty of exploring to be done in the local area. Bude itself has two sandy beaches and Widemouth Bay, Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth Beach are all nearby. There are several surf schools and shops based in Bude so you can sign up for some lessons or some paddleboarding sessions. You might prefer a gentle paddle along Bude canal in a rowing boat or a stroll through The Wharf, browsing local artisan pieces. If you fancy venturing further afield, the A39 makes it easy to head either way along the coast and you can be in charming fishing villages like Tintagel and Boscastle or bustling harbour towns like Padstow in no time.
