This magical accommodation features two majestic showman’s wagons that are linked to an underground bothy via a secret passageway. If that wasn’t special enough, there’s also an outdoor hot tub where you can enjoy a lavish soak and take in the views across lush green valleys and out to the Atlantic Ocean. The hosts live nearby and are always on hand to help or answer any questions, but other than that you’ll have complete privacy in your secluded sanctuary.
The 17th century bothy was once carved into the hillside and still features its grassy roof (think hobbit hole!). The interior is also straight out of middle earth, delightfully decorated with bespoke artwork, hand painted murals, faux sheepskins and lots of other quirky curiosities. It houses the beautiful kitchen, kitted out with all the appliances, pots and pans needed to cook up a feast, as well as an 18th century sandstone sink with handmade copper faucet and large Jacobean Oak countertops – the perfect blend of rustic charm and functionality. It’s also where you’ll find the cosy living area with a wood burner to curl up by and a smart TV if you wanted to keep up on the latest series.
The secret passageway takes you from the bothy to the wagons, these are fully built in so there’s no need to venture outside. Wooden steps lead up to the bedroom wagon, where a wall-to-wall super-king bed awaits, fitted with luxuriously comfortable bedding to ensure a sound night’s sleep. The bathroom wagon is equally impressive, boasting an elegant cast iron bath, and doors opening out onto the countryside so you can enjoy the fresh air whilst you bathe. Premium Duck Island toiletries, Egyptian cotton towels, robes and slippers are provided for a spa-like experience.
The outside area is just as enchanting. The two-person hot tub sits on a wooden deck and is covered for complete privacy. If you want a relaxing soak under the stars, the area can be illuminated with festoon lighting which looks truly stunning. Guests can also stroll down to the wildflower paddock and spend the day lazing on one of the sunbeds, or light up the fire pit and toast marshmallows.
If you want to venture out from your hideaway, you’ll find that you’re ideally located to discover Cornwall and get a true taste of the region. Tinker is surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque countryside waiting to be explored, and you’re also just a stone’s throw away from the glorious coastline and some of Cornwall’s best beaches, including Widemouth Bay, a haven for surfers (experienced and newbies).
The accommodation is just outside the quaint village of Marhamchurch which has a local pub and shop, it’s a short drive away or a lovely walk on sunny days. The vibrant town of Bude is also nearby and makes a wonderful day out, full of independent shops, cafes, bars and some fantastic eateries – from classic pubs and fish and chip shops to bistros and fine dining restaurants, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
