When you’re looking for all-out luxury with a unique twist, this adults-only windmill, that recently featured on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces and Charlie Luxton's Great British Home Restoration, should be top of your list. With its iconic footprint and uber-chic conversion, it’s perfect for small groups or loved-up couples. Enjoy lazy morning lie-ins and ruddy country walks, along with crimson sunsets and champagne at nightfall.
The historic corn mill dates back to 1891 and is set in rural Suffolk on the outskirts of Lavenham. Its characterful exterior has been given a contemporary makeover which includes sophisticated hues and an award-winning roof. Pretty gardens surround the sun-kissed patio and have a seductive outlook over the idyllic landscapes.
Patio doors slide open into the four storey home where you’ll find two decadent double bedrooms and exclusive living spaces. Finished with an exquisite attention to detail and seriously stylish furnishings, you can while away your days in complete and utter comfort.
There’s the ground floor kitchen with its sleek, modern fittings and the top floor POD living area with its panoramic vistas. Expect state-of-the-art kitchen mod-cons and a bespoke dining table, along with a 47” curved TV and built-in sound system. Relax on the top-floor balcony and soak up the alluring views or curl up on the luxurious, sink-in sofas with their soft, comfy throws.
Two blissful double bedrooms are hidden on the first and third floors, fitted with super-king size beds and over-sized headboards. Snuggle up between the thick covers and gaze out across the fields, watching star-lit vistas and hazy morning scenes.
On the second floor you'll find a lavish, marble bathroom with all you could ask for and more. Drench yourself in the monsoon rain shower overlooking the tempting country landscape, or relax in the sumptuous bath tub with its Elemis toiletries. Wrap up in the thick fluffy towels and don your plush, designer robe, before padding back to your room with a rejuvenated glow.
If you can drag yourself away from the comfort of your windmill then the beautiful Suffolk countryside is waiting to be discovered. Picnic in the lush, wild meadows or stroll through the open fields, breathing in the fresh country air and soaking up the stunning, rural scenes. Visit the Tudor town of Lavenham with its medieval qualities or the quaint market town of Bury St Edmunds. Explore boutique shops and dine at the local gastro pubs, before boating on the Norfolk Broads or heading to the untouched coast.

Leave a reviewThe Windmill Suffolk is an absolutely charming and delightful place to stay. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The windmill itself is beautifully restored, showcasing its historic charm while also providing modern comforts. The attention to detail is evident in every corner, from the carefully preserved wooden beams to the tastefully chosen furnishings. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean, offering a cozy and inviting ambiance. The comfortable beds guarantee a restful night's sleep, and the views from the windows are simply breathtaking. Waking up to the sight of rolling countryside and gently swaying wheat fields is truly a treat. We were greeted by Natalie, aka Mrs Windmill. She was so welcoming, attentive, friendly, and go above and beyond to ensure your stay is memorable. We even wrote us a card to say congratulations on our marriage. She was knowledgeable about the local area and are more than happy to provide recommendations for places to visit and dine. Their dedication to offering exceptional service truly sets this establishment apart. Breakfast at the Windmill Suffolk is a real highlight. The morning spread features a variety of freshly baked goods, fruits, and local produce. There is something to satisfy every palate. The food is of the highest quality, and the presentation is top-notch. The location of the Windmill Suffolk is perfect for those seeking a peaceful getaway. Situated in the picturesque Suffolk countryside, it offers a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. You can take leisurely walks through the surrounding fields or simply sit back and relax in the beautifully landscaped gardens. A special touch that I liked about our stay at the Windmill was the owners commitment to using and supporting local business. Our breakfast was delivered by “The Suffolk Platter” and the flower were from “Lavenham Blooms”. Both have excellent services.

Absolutely stunning little find and perfect for a little get away for some much needed R&R. Close to some lovely little villages to explore; we love Lavenham so had a lovely lunch at The Swan. The windmill itself is fabulous to chill in and enjoy the perfect views from the pod at the top. Natalie and Steve were great hosts and no detail was missed with beautiful soft dressing gowns and slippers, to the elemis bathroom products and a yummy welcome cake! Would certainly go back.

Fantastic accommodation. Attention to detail throughout is superb. Lovely and quiet location. A nice little walk available from the windmill through the fields and along an old railway line taking you to the pub. Bed very comfortable and bedding top quality. Hosts were very accommodating and welcome cake was a lovely touch.

We have just returned from a wonderful few days spent at The Windmill Suffolk to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We were blown away by its inspirational design and Natalie and Steve’s attention to detail. It was a truly memorable and luxurious stay in a beautiful part of the country and we would thoroughly recommend it!

What a place! I couldn’t recommend enough. With two young children, we were looking to escape for a few days for some much needed Mummy and Daddy chill time. The Windmill was the perfect destination. I agree with all that has been said by other guests, but for me personally the room at the top was just heaven. I could have sat there for days, breathing in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, and just doing not very much at all. The Windmill is beautifully designed, modern and oozes elegance in every way. We didn’t want to leave. Thank you Natalie and Steve for being the perfect hosts. You’ve created something truly wonderful and unique and we hope to stay again soon.

I can honestly say that I have never stayed anywhere like this. Natalie and Steve have made a truly luxurious and unique place to relax and recharge. Each room is fabulously furnished. The kitchen had an array of coffee pods that my husband really enjoyed. There were chocolates and fluffy robes on the large beds which I put in after a bath in the largest bath ever! The view from the top of the windmill is beautiful, especially at sunset and the top of the windmill is a gorgeous place to relax and watch a film or read a book. The windmill is perfectly situated to explore Lavenham or Bury at Edmonds and we enjoyed visiting both. Natalie and Steve are perfect hosts who were always there to answer questions and give advice. We cannot wait to return to this truly unique and memorable place.

I have only written this on two stays, one in France and one here. "Why should I leave a great review, because then you'll all book it ahead of me!" Just a brilliant week here and in Suffolk Easy to find and the road outside is suprisingly quiet Very pleasant and accomodating hosts. The Mill has been renovated to an immaculate condition and very stylish and comfortable. All the facilities you could want but the jewel in the crown is the "snug" at the top with wonderfull views over the Suffolk countryside. I counted 49 steps to the top so dont be an idiot like me and leave your specs in the kitchen! Loved our stay there and the Suffolk area with Lavenham, Kersey, Constable country on the door step is world class The weather was great and honestly, wse had the holiday of a lifetime If you can afford it, book it - simple Greg and Alex

I booked a stay at the Windmill Suffolk for my proposal and I have to say that my stay at the Windmill was true luxury, from the unique architecture to the real warmth and true genuine nature of the hosts, Natalie and Steve! Before my stay, the hosts communicated with enthusiasm and great passion in arranging my special visit. They even offered a unique experience by creating a custom made package to ensure my thorough proposal vision was met, from selecting the perfect colours of the flowers and balloons to the precise timing and arrangement of the proposal itself, where Natalie had arranged blooming roses and candles leading up to the lavish balcony, outlooking the countryside. During our stay, Natalie and Steve were committed to ensuring that me and my partner had the best possible stay by being available at the drop of a hat, yet offering us a private, intimate experience, away from the world. Everytime we entered the Windmill, we were mesmerised with a new luxury experience as though going through a new line of a symphony, from a bespoke afternoon tea and room of balloons to a personalised engagement card and a surprise bottle of bubbly to mark the occasion! The whole spectacle was so seemless and well done that it was as if faries had decorated the accommodation! Natalie and Steve went beyond expectations by even giving us their time in going through a photoshoot with us to make sure our stay was that much more memorable and special, and communicating after our stay to ensure we had the perfect photos for our album for years to come. I have to say that Natalie and Steve have genuine enthusiasm, perfection in their commutation and were lovely in the way in which they welcomed us into their accommodation, which felt as though we were old friends! I cannot wait until I see them again soon. :)
