The detail

This gorgeous Devon property is ideal for those seeking an escape to peace and tranquility that is suitable for all the family and combines modern living with homespun charm. The Tallet at Ashelford Farm originally functioned as a farm implement store and - after its recent refurbishment - now offers guests a luxury self-catering holiday experience in the hills of Devon. The Tallet has been beautifully furnished by the owners, to create an atmosphere that is at once rustic and contemporary, while its location offers easy access to Exmoor National Park and North Devon’s many miles of sandy beaches. And that's all without mentioning the gorgeous views of the valley or the 60+ acres of farmland worth exploring. A pair of walking boots won't go amiss here!

The Tallet's open-planned living/dining/kitchen area serves as its focal point. The downstairs has underfloor heating throughout, and is also warmed by a 15kw log burner in the cosy lounge area. The kitchen is incredibly spacious, well-equipped, and has ample space for you to prep a large evening meal. It also contains a dining table that comfortably seats eight guests. Adjoining this living space is the sun room, with three comfy couches, picture windows with views down the valley and the southern aspect with bifold doors that bring the outside in when the weather permits. This is the perfect place to relax no matter what the weather!

Each of the five rooms at The Tallet has a smart Television with the added benefit of Netflix in the two living areas. Full width glass bi-folding doors lead you out to the terrace area, which has an eight seater dining table and chairs and a barbecue, plus a separate fire pit. This is a wondrous location for a spot of evening al fresco dining.

There are three bedrooms in all. The master bedroom sits beneath a skeiling ceiling and includes an ensuite shower room. The master bedroom also has a glazed door leading onto the large balcony that faces south and east with ample seating, arresting views towards Exmoor and an external staircase descending to the patio below. On the same floor is "The Dormitory", containing a double and a single bed, along with another ensuite shower room. A third double bedroom can be found on the ground floor where the main bathroom sits adjacent and features a double walk-in shower - ideal for those with mobility issues.

The local area is tailor-made for those who love the great outdoors. Your neighbours will include wild deer and the various species of birds found flying overhead and at your bird table outside the kitchen window, while the majesty of Exmoor is just on your doorstep. There is also a “resident” owl who frequents the post above the external staircase!

A varied landscape of moorland, woodland, coast and rivers, this national park has some of the south of England's most gorgeous scenery and walking trails. Also within a drive is The South West Coast Path. Beaches near Ashelford Farm include Wild Pear, Combe Martin, and Woolacombe - to name a few. The towns of Ilfracombe and Barnstaple are within easy driving distance.
