Earlston, Scottish Borders
A cosy hideaway perfect for two with riverside views, a light filled interior and a log burning stove, all in the picturesque Scottish Borders.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
Once a humble garden outbuilding, The Potting Shed has been lovingly restored and transformed into a well equipped, eco friendly cottage with its own fully enclosed garden. Enjoy tree-framed riverside views of the Leader Water, which meanders through the nearby market town of Earlston and past your own cosy hideaway.
A floor to ceiling window and glass front entrance gives The Potting Shed plenty of daylight and the clean, understated decor gives an airy feel to the partially open plan interior. A wonderful state of the art Everhot heat storage range cooker is a modern energy efficient feature, and for extra cosiness there’s a traditional log burning stove in the living area complete with logs so you’re ready to go. There’s plenty of indoor entertainment provided including an HD television with Freeview, DVD player, MP3 dock, Wi Fi, and a selection of book, magazines and DVDs.
Sleep well with crisp Egyptian cotton linen on your king sized bed, and then get a good start on the day with plenty of organic Sedbergh toiletries provided for you in the shower room. Look out for extra treats including fresh flowers, and a delicious ‘home produce' welcome pack on arrival, which can include such delights as free range eggs, freshly baked bread, granola and preserves.
Outside you’ll find leafy surroundings to admire, with only the sound of bird song and the river flowing past. Enjoy a glass of wine on the elevated south facing decked area or fire up the barbecue and sit al fresco whilst you admire your surroundings.
Time at The Potting Shed can be as busy or as benign as you choose with plenty of walks, cycle trails and horse treks available should you wish to partake. The Potting Shed sits right on the Earlston footpath network, offering a wide range of walks without the need to use the car, and a booklet of 9 local routes is available to you on arrival. Stages of both the Southern Upland Way: Britain's first coast to coast long distance footpath, and St Cuthbert's Way, which reaches from Melrose to Holy Island, run close by this area. And when you’re in the mood for some city living an hour's drive will take you to Edinburgh, where you can enjoy its castle, museums, galleries, shopping, restaurants and theatres.
