Stumble across this charming pastel yellow house with its rustic white shutters hidden away in rural France. The interior is just as delightful as the exterior, combining traditional French farmhouse style with contemporary and unpretentious furnishings. Sleeping up to eight in four bedrooms and with its own private pool, this house is perfect for families or groups of friends looking for a relaxing countryside escape and the chance to explore some of the region’s famous wineries.

The house features spacious, light-filled rooms for relaxing, socialising and enjoying meals together. The laid back living room features big comfy sofas and there are splashes of colour from the artwork on the walls and bright yellow furnishings tying the space together. Pull up a chair to the dining table to enjoy fresh pastries from the local boulangerie every morning or a family meal in the evenings. Or, you can sit out on the large terrace to enjoy your meals alfresco, perhaps accompanied by a glass of local wine.

There are four large bedrooms, three with double beds and one twin room. The spacious master bedroom features a luxurious king size bed and large windows looking out to the countryside. The two other double rooms have queen size beds and beautiful wooden floors. The twin room is perfect for the kids and is large enough for them to feel they have their own space. There are two bathrooms, one with a gorgeous roll-top bathtub and stylish walk-in shower.

There’s plenty of space outside for lounging in the French sunshine with big outdoor sofas and armchairs and a garden to explore. When you need to cool off, you can always go for a refreshing dip in the private pool. There’s also a barbecue for easy outdoor lunches and dinners with the rest of the family.

The Pool House is located in a beautiful part of the French countryside about an hour south of Poitiers and a few hours east of La Rochelle. Spend relaxed afternoons exploring the pretty local villages on foot or hire bikes and head off down the country lanes. If you want to venture a little further afield, some of the bigger towns and cities are about an hour away in the car and you’ll be spoilt for choice with the food and wine on offer. If you’re looking to try some of the best wines and spirits in this part of France, make a day of it, stopping off at Cognac, Bergerac and Bordeaux.
