The detail

The Old Library is a gorgeous, characterful Georgian property, with wonderful ensuite bedroom suites, period features and stylish decor. Situated in the quirky town of Alnwick with its castle, where many Harry Potter scenes were filmed, this makes a perfect retreat for two couples in beautiful Northumberland.

The Old Library was built in 1810 as a school and later became the town library. It maintains many of its charming period features including stunning feature windows, high-beamed vaulted ceilings and exposed stonework. As you enter the spacious hall you'll find gleaming wooden floors and plenty of space to leave coats, bags and shoes.

The hall opens out into a spacious, light, open plan lounge and dining area. The historic fabric of the building blends perfectly with stylish furniture and luxurious soft furnishings, carefully selected art and oversized wall hangings. With its comfy sofas, the lounge makes a cosy area for relaxing after a day's exploring. And when it comes to meal times, the dining area houses a large dining table, which seats up to eight guests and a large flat screen smart TV, which can be viewed from the lounge. This is the perfect space to enjoy long dinners that stretch into the night.

The property's modern kitchen is equipped with a lot of modern appliances, such as a fridge/freezer, electric fan oven with induction hob, microwave, four-slice toaster, kettle, dishwasher and a washer/dryer - everything you could need for a comfortable stay.

The property comes complete with two fabulous bedroom suites. The master bedroom suite is accessed via a modern glass panelled staircase and is split over two levels. There is a comfortable seating area and ensuite shower room on the first floor and a cosy mezzanine bedroom with a king size bed, dressed in luxury bedding, accessed via a small staircase. The ensuite bathroom has a shower with mixer tap, heated towel rail, WC and a wash basin.

A second king size bedroom has a feature stone wall with sash windows and a king size bed dressed in luxury linens. The spacious ensuite has a large rainfall shower, heated towel rail, WC and wash basin. In both ensuites, you'll find soft towels, storage space and complimentary luxury Temple Spa toiletries.

At the rear of the property you'll find a small courtyard garden with a lawned area and a table with seating for four guests. The property also has private off road parking for two cars.

The property is situated in historic Alnwick, with its restaurants, bars and independent shops, which include the quirky Barter Books and the fabulous Treehouse Restaurant. Alnwick Castle, where many scenes from the Harry Potter movies were filmed, is also close by. Lovers of the great outdoors will be delighted to know that the beautiful countryside and beaches of Northumberland are just a short drive away.
