Enjoy the luxury of a quintessential Elizabethan country house that comfortably sleeps large groups. Wander the gorgeous grounds and gardens, or spend your time relaxing with a book in front of a roaring fire in one of a number of stylish reception rooms. Guests can also make the most of the summer sunshine with a dip in the large private pool, or merely lounge around its edge and enjoy the peace and tranquility that surrounds you as birds chirp in the trees.
The Old Hall, in the village of Saxlingham Nethergate in Norfolk, simply oozes with class and has plenty of period details throughout. The Great Hall is the best example of this. This large space has an inlaid 17th century fireplace and antique oak furniture as well as a huge refectory dining table. Perfect for socialising, this grand room has a wonderful atmosphere, especially when the candles are lit at night time.
As well as the Great Hall, there’s a drawing room, a beautiful paneled sitting room - complete with French doors that open up onto the croquet lawn, and there’s also a very large sitting room that overlooks the gardens with yet more doors that open out onto the terrace. So there’s plenty of space for large groups to spread out in comfort.
Kids will love the chill out den full of toys, books, DVDs and family friendly games as well as the woods complete with treehouse and fire-pit for campfires. And adults might want to stroll around the library looking at all of the books on offer. There’s also a pretty thatched pavilion next to the pool with a huge sofa, so you can sit and watch as your loved ones play in the water.
Giant, super comfy bedrooms offer guests pure comfort and relaxation, meaning you can really unwind during your stay. The fully functional kitchen has everything you could dream of to be able to cook up some amazing food. There’s even a four oven Aga for you to use!
As well as being a superb country house, with elegant, classic design and modern fittings, The Old Hall also offers a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. The Norfolk Broads are only half an hour away. So hop in the car and take to the water in anything from a canoe to a traditional Norfolk Wherry or head to the coast which is only half an hour way and visit Southwold with its upmarket pier and lighthouse. This beautiful part of the country has so much to see and do that we’re sure you’ll never get bored. You could go for a game of golf nearby, try your hand at archery or shooting in the grounds, or head out bird watching. All before finding a classic Norfolk pub for some delightful local food and ale.
