In a sleepy hamlet near the market town of Matlock, The Old Granary is an award-winning luxury holiday cottage, ideally situated on the edge of the Peak District, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Originally part of a working farm that dates back to Medieval times, this beautiful cottage has been lovingly converted from an old grain store, and is designed to blend traditional touches with a modern twist.
The property sleeps six guests across three bedrooms, all with luxurious king-size beds. Two of the king bedrooms have French cane beds and oak beams overhead, as well as a dressing table and en-suite bathroom with shower, WC, and basin. This combines with an LCD television in each, along with ceiling speakers in the bathrooms. The third bedroom has king-size bed, plus a television, dressing table, and speakers. An interlinking door connects two of the king size rooms, making it the perfect setup for families. There is a further separate family bathroom.
And coming soon, in the adjacent wildflower meadow, a wonderfully snug shepherd's hut, with a king-sized bed, floor to ceiling windows and lovely views. The hut will be available to rent separately.
The living spaces consist of the lounge and kitchen/diner. The lounge has a terracotta tiled floor and original oak beams, while comfy sofas and armchairs sit in front of the electric stove and entertainment system made up of a flat screen TV, surround sound, DVD library, and stereo with iPod dock.
The farmhouse style kitchen has handmade cabinets, a granite worktop, Belfast sink, and antique painted furniture. It is also well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, fridge, freezer, and electric range cooker. There is a dining table seating up to 6 people and a tiled floor with underfloor heating.
Direct access to the outdoor space comes from the porch, the kitchen or the lounge, which opens out onto the patio and garden. As well as offering stunning views across the rolling fields which adjoin, there is an added touch of luxury with a Jacuzzi hot tub. This sits on a raised stone patio and can be enjoyed with a glass of bubbly at any time of the year.
Footpaths into the Peak District start right from the front door of The Old Granary for those who want to get out and about. Alternatively head into the nearby towns of Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, and Buxton. Or for the hustle and bustle of city life then Derby and Nottingham are also both within easy reach.
