You should know

• On-site parking is available.
• Dogs will incur an additional charge so let them know before you finalise your booking.
• Smoking is only permitted outside, please use the ashtrays provided.
• Check in is between 3pm and 6pm and they will contact you on the day to enquire what time you'll arrive. Check out is 10.30am, always.

The detail

The Loft is one of a few brilliant places to stay in the ultra cool Kip & Nook. Situated within the Workshop – a communal hang that houses vintage cars, a bar, pool table and loads of fun stuff to do – this unique accommodation will stun even the most seasoned of travellers. It would be perfect for a couple, a couple of couples or some mates seeking an original getaway that could never be boring.

The interior is decorated to a very high standard in a cool and eclectic way with a modern kitchen fully equipped with everything you could need plus a bright orange Smeg fridge. It's painted in dark warm colours which then highlight the fantastic Scandinavian influenced dining area. There's a long wooden table with benches, textured cushions and pale beige walls, ideal for long social suppers. There's also a big window showcasing nothing but endless fields and trees.

Head up the spiral staircase and you'll find another absolute gem of a space that is dark, cosy and just a bit fabulous. There's a huge cinema screen TV with a long snug sofa where you can kick back with a cold beer. There's also a wardrobe and a double bed in its own little nook at one end and a fab mid century chair facing a mirror where you can get ready for a night out. The bathroom is a work of art in its own right and has a big tub and a rain shower.

Adjacent to the big chill area is a lovely main bedroom, also very Scandi in style with a handmade rustic wooden bed frame, and green walls bedecked with a rattan hanging light.

The whole space is vibrant and exciting and the Workshop downstairs promises lots of fun. It's a communal area for guests and is home to a pizza kitchen, yoga studio, games room and a bar. You might see the odd vintage car knocking about – these can be booked for a day out with a pre-packed picnic. Grab a drink and play some pool. You'll find some cool bits and bobs like punch bags, eclectic seating, a ping pong table and whole 50's diner vibe with 'vacancy' sign. They have a great pizza menu too, which you can order from in advance, a Thai night – cooked and delivered to your door, yoga sessions, treasure hunts and rounders kits, should you fancy a game.

If you can bear to leave the building you'll find some other great eateries from Salt, which is street food heaven to The Raby Hunt, the North East's first and only two Michelin Star restaurant.
