Sleeping two guests, those staying enter into the handmade kitchen where original features such as the oak beams and the dove nesting holes have been beautifully preserved. The well equipped kitchen has an oven and hob, Smeg fridge with freezer compartment, and a dining table seating for two. There will also be a welcome hamper with wine, homemade bread, and locally sourced breakfast ingredients waiting for you upon arrival.
The cosy living room has a comfy leather sofa sitting in front of the wood burning stove so guests can stay warm whatever the weather. Not only that but underfloor heating throughout ensures it’s toasty inside even if the Yorkshire weather outside isn’t. The living room is ideal for couples who are looking to enjoy a romantic night in after a day out exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
The bedroom has a king size bed, which can be converted into twins if required. The bed boasts a John Lewis Yorkshire wool mattress ensuring a delightful night's sleep. The bathroom has a rainforest shower and acts as a wet room.
French doors open out onto the private patio - the perfect spot for enjoying an alfresco breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening.
The owners are committed to biodiversity and there is an eco laundry room and charging point for electrical cars that guests are welcome to use on-site.
There are plenty of walks to discover in the surrounding countryside around Irishman’s Cottage, but for those who want a little more action then the historic city of York is just 10 minutes away. Here you can see its past with all the preserved architecture, some of which dates back to Viking and Roman invasions. York Minster is the largest Gothic cathedral in Europe, while there is 3.4km of medieval city walls. There is also the Jorvik Viking centre and many ghost walks around this famously haunted city. Later enjoy a stroll by the River Ouse and its many bars and cafes by the waterside.
