Wayside Cottage is a romantic bolthole for two tucked away in the picturesque North Yorkshire countryside. Perfect for couples looking for a relaxing, rural retreat, the home is beautifully finished and boasts lovely views from every window. For that added touch of luxury, there is a wooden hot tub on the private terrace, where guests can enjoy an indulgent soak all year round. The property is also dog-friendly, meaning you can bring your canine companion and explore the local Richmondshire Hills together. Guests will receive a welcome hamper full of locally sourced goodies on arrival.
Originally a barn, the property has been expertly converted into a stunning holiday cottage. A wonderful blend of rustic country charm and comfortable living, it has all the modern amenities you could wish for yet retains authentic features such as wooden beams and exposed stone walls. Inside is warm and welcoming, designed to be a blissful haven and the ideal place to spend quality time with your partner.
At the heart of the cottage is the open-plan living area, where you’ll find a cosy lounge and well-equipped kitchen, separated by a breakfast bar. With a comfy sofa and TV, the lounge is ideal for snuggling up and watching a movie or having a break from screens and playing one of the board games provided. A starter pack with kitchen and washing essentials is provided for guests to cater for themselves.
The bedroom at Wayside Cottage boasts a king size bed with crisp, premium linen. French doors opposite the bed open out directly onto the patio, meaning you can wake up to the magical country views. Your ensuite bathroom features a bath and overhead shower, with luxurious toiletries, fluffy towels and robes provided for a spa-like experience. Outside the home is just as impressive. The large, paved terrace has a BBQ and dining area for guests to enjoy an alfresco lifestyle, and the hot tub is hidden away for bathing in complete privacy.
There is plenty to keep you entertained in the surrounding area, including charming villages, cosy pubs and walks galore. A scenic cross-country stroll will take you to the quaint village of Gilling West, which is home to two traditional pubs that offer a very warm welcome and excellent food. The market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle are slightly further afield but within easy reach. At both, you’ll discover an excellent choice of independent shops and top-class eateries. Beyond the towns and villages is the Yorkshire Dales, a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with opportunities for hikes, cycling and climbing. Or if you fancied something more relaxed, head to The Garage Spa for calm and relaxation.
