Just on the outskirts of the Gloucestershire town of Nailsworth sits The Hide. The Hide offers guests the choice of two separate accommodations: a charming Shepherd's Hut or a one bedroom open-planned suite attached to a lovely family home. However, this is no ordinary getaway, boasting its very own studio, it is the ideal spot for inspiration-starved artists or those simply looking for a change of setting. Sitting right in the middle of the Cotswolds AONB isn't too bad, either.
The 6mx6m workspace is the perfect place to find your spark and get stuck into your work. It is open between the hours of 9am and 8pm and has underfloor heating, a large butlers sink, north-facing skylights, and south-facing sliding doors. If nature is your thing, step out onto the courtyard and garden, the veg patch, or the Common next door.
In terms of accommodation, the shepherd's hut sits neatly tucked away in a private area of the shared garden. This charming cabin comes complete with a comfortable double bed with fine linens, electric lighting, high speed broadband, and a traditional wood burner. Further up the garden in the art studio you will find the shower room as well as the kitchen area with a fridge, microwave, sink and worktop.
Access to the more spacious suite is through the house's main entrance. The living area sits under vaulted ceilings and is illuminated by natural light coming in through large windows. This provides the perfect setting to work on your projects and get inspired by the tranquil surroundings. It has a couch, writing desk, and a wood burner. The bedroom boasts a double bed, while the luxurious en suite bathroom has a WC, basin, and walk-in shower. A small kitchen area is with a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster is in the shared utility space.
The charming town of Nailsworth is just a short woodland walk or drive from The Hide; it houses several bars, cafés, and shops. The local pub, The Old Lodge, is up on the common and is great for those seeking local ales and hearty pub fare. The lively town of Stroud is also a 10-minute drive to the north. Should you wish to venture a bit further, Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, and Gloucester are all within driving distance. Being set in the Cotswolds, you will not want for artistic ideas, either. A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this protected region is known for its undulating countryside, stone-built villages, and variety of stately homes and manors - sure to get the creative juices flowing.
