The Forge is an architectural gem with its beautifully restored A-frame beams at the heart of this stunning conversion. Set within 700 acres of the Whittern Estate, in glorious Herefordshire, it’s the perfect rural escape. The barn is finished to a luxurious standard but retains a relaxed and welcoming feel. With a wood-burning stove in winter and a beautiful lavender-filled terrace in summer, it’s perfect all year round. And the delightful shared outdoor swimming pool is ideal for a morning dip.
There are walks from the door for those wanting to get out and explore on foot. And the lovely towns of Kington, Hay-on-Wye and Ludlow are all within easy striking distance - with plenty of quintessentially English villages in-between.
Originally a blacksmith’s workshop, the space has been tastefully renovated into a chic and spacious retreat. The open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen are all set below the stunning whitewashed A frame beams. And the whole space is light and airy due to two set of patio doors that invite the outdoors in.
The living room has two large and wonderfully comfortable sofas. Plus, there’s a lovely Swedish wood-burning stove - perfect for cosy nights in. The kitchen is well-equipped with handsome solid wood units and sparkling worktops. And the elegant, relaxed dining area is perfectly placed to enjoy the views out of the window. Oak flooring, white wooden cladding and designer radiators, stylishly showcase the love and care that has gone into this property.
Head to the ground floor master bedroom to discover a luxurious suite complete with a Superking size bed and dazzling en suite bathroom. Centre stage of this gorgeous room is a cornflower blue roll top bath. A spiral staircase leads you to a mezzanine level with a single futon - perfect for an older child.
The second double bedroom is accessed up a spiral staircase in the living room. Here you’ll find a bespoke Superking bed dressed elegantly in pure white Eygyptian cotton. And a wet room below means there are plenty of bathrooms to go round.
Outside there is a pretty terrace with teak furniture, lavender-adorned pathways and beech-hedged lawns. It’s an ideal spot for breakfast or drinks at sunset.
Onsite there is an outdoor heated pool that is shared with the other properties on the Estate. Set within a partially walled garden, it’s utterly charming. You have access to the pool between 10am-12pm (May-September) so it’s perfect for a summertime morning dip.
Locally there are some fabulous places to explore. The town of Hay-on-Wye is brimming with independent book shops, antiques and vibrant cafes. Foodie delights await in the pretty town of Ludlow. And the lovely market towns of Kington and Hereford are just down the road. Closer to home, why not head out on the White Heron Estate’s own British Cassis Tour - with 150 acres of blackcurrants, there’s plenty to see. And at the end you’ll even be rewarded with a taste of this lovely liqueur.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 7 nights high season
