This charming four-bedroom cottage, set in the Somerset village of Kilve, is packed with character and history. Inside, you’ll feel right at home straight away with warm and welcoming decor and an added sense of cosiness thanks to the beams crisscrossing the low ceilings and the wood burner in the living room. Outside you’ll find a lovely garden with a Skarsgard Swedish wood-fired hot tub with gorgeous views over the wildflower meadow and out to sea. And if that wasn’t enough, guests also have exclusive use of a heated outdoor swimming pool.
Step inside your cosy hideaway and you’ll find a charming kitchen diner with all the appliances you could need, including a dishwasher and induction hob. The space has access directly to the private garden and hot tub area. Move through to the lounge where armchairs and sofas are gathered around the wood burner and Smart TV, perfect for movie nights or board games in the evenings. There’s a separate games room with more comfy seating, a Nintendo Switch and table football so the kids can have their own space.
The master bedroom is also located on the ground floor with its ensuite bathroom, complete with luxurious Bramley toiletries. Head upstairs to find two more bedrooms. These are both furnished with sumptuous king-size beds which can be split into singles if required. They share a family bathroom with an over-bath shower. The final bedroom is a self-contained first-floor annexe. This open-plan loft space is great for teenagers or couples and has its own ensuite shower room, kitchenette and king-size bed.
Step outside to the private garden area and you’ll find a patio with outdoor seating, a barbecue and a chimenea to keep you warm on chillier evenings. As well as having the heated pool and the wood-fired hot tub at your disposal, you’re also welcome to explore the beautiful grounds of the Old Rectory House where you can follow a willow tunnel to a croquet lawn or explore the walled orchard. You’ll always be able to find a peaceful spot where you can enjoy a picnic in the sunshine.
The Coach House is set in an idyllic part of Somerset, between the Quantock Hills and the Jurassic Coast. There are plenty of walks through the rolling countryside which you can start right from your front door with pubs and cafes along the way. Close by is the Hood Arms, which serves up a delicious Sunday lunch, or enjoy tea and cake amidst the ruins of a 14th-century chantry at Chantry Tea Gardens. The Quantock Hills are ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding. If you prefer coastal scenery, the closest beach is a 10-minute stroll away.
