Tucked away in the heart of the market town of Malton, known as Yorkshire’s food capital, this luxurious apartment was once a merchant’s house. Head through the grand arched gateway and up to the top floor apartment which has its own balcony. The interior has been designed to create a relaxing atmosphere with beautiful fabrics, furnishings and underfloor heating. Spend your days exploring the stunning countryside of North Yorkshire, before enjoying a delicious dinner in one of Malton’s many eateries and relaxing back at the Penthouse.
Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a bright and airy entrance hall which leads to the main living area. The distinctive curved shapes of the armchairs, velvet sofa and sideboard have been influenced by mid-century design, creating an elegant feel. French doors open out onto a balcony that overlooks the pretty courtyard, full of flowers and plants.
The living area also leads through to the stylish bedroom. The carefully chosen fabrics and colour palette create a relaxed atmosphere, inviting you to slow down and unwind. The soft lighting and natural tones are carried on through to the ensuite bathroom which has a bath and a separate shower.
There’s a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need if you haven’t been tempted out to dinner by one of Malton’s many restaurants. There’s a small but perfectly formed dining area just down from the kitchen or you could head out to the balcony on warm days and enjoy your meals alfresco.
Malton is a pretty Yorkshire market town with a rich history but also a modern foodie scene. You’ll find the town packed with artisan producers and traditional food shops. If you want to learn a little more about cooking and the food itself, book yourself in for a class at the Malton Cookery School or on a Malton Food Tour. If you’re more interested in sampling the goods, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants or you could pick up some treats at the market on Saturdays and cook up a storm back at the Penthouse. The location also means that you’re close to the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills AONB, so there are plenty of walking and cycling routes to help you build up an appetite.
