Located in the pretty Dorset town of Lyme Regis, this stylish and contemporary holiday home is perfect for families and groups of friends looking for an escape to the seaside. Designed by a local, award-winning architect, the house is a unique, split-level building with big windows helping you make the most of the view. Spend sunny afternoons relaxing on one of the decks with a BBQ on the go in the secluded garden. When it’s time to head down to the beach, you’ll find your very own beach hut located right on Marine Parade, providing a convenient base for days down by the water.
You enter the house on the first floor via a striking, contemporary bridge. As you step inside, you’ll be able to see straight through to the big windows on the other side, filling the interior with natural light and showing off the stunning view over the Lyme Valley. Head down the stairs to the large, open-plan living area, fronted by floor-to-ceiling windows which make the space bright and airy. There’s a fully-equipped modern kitchen to one side with everything you’ll need to cater for yourselves. The dining table is in the centre of the space, perfect for enjoying the scenery, and can be sectioned off from the living room using a sliding door hidden in the wall.
After dinner, move through to the stylish living room where you can light a fire in the wood burner to create a cosy atmosphere. Relax on the big comfy sofa with a film on the TV or curl up with a book before it’s time to go to bed. There are four bedrooms across the two floors, a twin and a double on each and all with contemporary bathrooms. The two bedrooms on the first floor have windows looking out over the valley while the two on the ground floor are cosy hideaways, perfect for snuggling up after a day exploring the Jurassic Coast.
On sunny days, open up the living room’s big sliding door and step straight out onto the deck. There’s an outdoor dining table so you can bring your meals outside to eat in the sunshine or cook on the BBQ. There’s also a secluded lawn area with some loungers so you can bring a book down and relax or keep an eye on the kids as they play in the garden. There’s another seating area at the front of the house with comfy chairs where you can sit and have a quiet cup of coffee in the morning or enjoy a cocktail in the evening.
There’s plenty to see and do in the area, with the Jurassic Coast and the stunning countryside of Dorset and Devon all on your doorstep. Lyme Regis is renowned for its beautiful beaches and is popular with fossil hunters. Your private beach hut is located in the centre of the beach and equipped with a kitchenette, deck chairs and beach games. You’ll be able to brew a warming cup of tea after a refreshing dip in the sea and store your beach gear if you fancy heading off to explore. It’s also a great destination for food lovers with Mark Hix’s Oyster and Fish House and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage both within walking distance.
