The Detail...
Just a few miles from Port Isaac, The Beech Hut is a dreamy, tinyhouse style cottage, with timber cladding and a light, airy atmosphere, perfect for couples looking to spend meaningful time together in Cornwall. Heated with a wood-burning stove, quiet but for the many unusual birds in the trees, and close to the amenities and culture of Port Isaac, The Beech Hut is a truly unique getaway with understated beauty and charm.
Everything about the architecture, design and finishes of The Beech Hut has been judiciously chosen to create an elegant and simple holiday space, ideal for couples looking to unplug from stress and technology, and simply indulge in time on the coast. Whatever the season, watch the weather coming in from the comfort of your cottage, while you keep the stove or chiminea stocked with local wood.
The main living space is a delight to occupy, with wooden floors, a small but well appointed kitchen, and an abundance of natural light from the windows. Overhead, the ultra-comfortable king sized bed occupies a mezzanine sleeping platform. By day, explore the quaint, historic hamlet of St Kew Churchtown, make the trip to the coast, and indulge in the excellent local culinary scene. By evening, take a long stroll through the woods, before returning to your private cabin for a meal made with local seafood, either enjoyed by the stove inside, or out on the porch with its fairy lights and chiminea. Outside your porch, a stream meanders through the meadow, while an ancient beech plays host to owls, flycatchers and swallows.
No stay in St Kew is complete without experiencing the charm, food and beauty of the St Kew Inn, which dates to the 14th Century. With expertly crafted local gins, fantastic food, and a unique atmosphere, this is a brilliant pub you’ll want to return to time and again. Wadebridge and of course Port Isaac are delightful local towns, which television and film buffs will be sure to recognise; their coastal beauty has led a number of film and television projects to be shot in the area. Drawing visitors from all over the UK and beyond, Cornwall has a fantastic art scene. Head to the studios and galleries of Port Isaac, and be sure not to miss Cliffside Gallery, where you might recognise Katie Child’s art from the Beech Hut loft.
