Perfectly situated in the heart of London, this historical houseboat truly is a one-of-a-kind property. Moored at St-Katherine Docks – one of the capital's best kept secrets – and surrounded by bars and restaurants, it couldn’t be better located for a long weekend away with family or friends. And after busy days out in the city centre, the delightful boat acts as a wonderful floating sanctuary where you can relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle.
St Alexander is a heritage boat with a rich history. Built in 1945, she was once used to transport cargo and troops to larger warships whilst out at sea. Originally powered by steam, you can still see her steam funnel feature in the main living space. Although the boat has been lovingly refurbished into a fully equipped home, it still retains its authentic charm and character.
Inside the boat, you’ll find a surprisingly spacious living area with a folding sofa bed, tables and an ottoman with inbuilt storage. Steps from here lead down into the dining area with seating for eight guests, characterised by stylish polished teal, cream leather benches and panoramic windows that can be opened for a refreshing river breeze – a lovely place to share a meal or drinks.
When it’s bedtime, the dining table drops down to form a platform, ready to lay down a double memory foam mattress, down duvet and pillows. The master bedroom can be found just down from the captain’s cabin. This cosy room has a double bed with memory foam mattress, Egyptian cotton linen and luxurious down bedding.
Another ladder leads down to the kitchen, which is fully equipped with an oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge, coffee machine and washing machine. Don’t worry if you don’t fancy cooking though, as you’ll be spoilt for choice with restaurants and takeaways nearby. The houseboat has an onboard bathroom with WC and vanity basin, and there are washroom facilities close by on the dock, as well as in the main marina building. These facilities are maintained by the management company and accessed using exclusive key fobs.
St Katherine Docks is a thriving waterside community and is full of fantastic quayside bars, restaurants and shops. Lying just downstream from the Tower of London, you’ll have great access to many popular tourist attractions, as well as to vibrant destinations like Shoreditch, The South Bank and West End.
