Hidden away on the Isle of Skye, this five star, self-catering home offers a stress-free retreat for four. Set in the midst of some spectacular scenery, Skye Lair provides everything you need to unwind and recover from the hustle and bustle of everyday life while reconnecting with friends and family. Designed by award-winning local architects and clad in locally-sourced larch wood, the house blends into the landscape of the Sleat Peninsula. Panoramic windows offer stunning views of the ‘Garden of Skye’ from the heather-clad mountains stretching down to rocky shorelines and beaches. Whether you prefer to simply curl up in front of the wood-burning stove or set off on expeditions to discover the island’s many delights, Skye Lair makes for an unforgettable Scottish escape.
You’ll feel at home right away with an interior taking inspiration from Scandi minimalism which creates a cosy ambience. The large open-plan living and dining area features a wood-burning stove and a supply of logs so you can ‘coorie in’. Coorie is the centuries-old Scottish tradition, similar to the Danish ‘Hygge’ concept. Curl up in front of the wood-burner and take in the views through the floor to ceiling windows.
A modern, fully-equipped kitchen and a utility room provide all the facilities and appliances to make a self-catering holiday as easy as possible, including a dishwasher, washing machine and a tumble dryer. Upstairs, there are two spacious bedrooms furnished in neutral tones, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The master bedroom features a luxurious super king-size bed with spectacular views over the peninsula. The second bedroom can be set up as another super king room or as a twin. There are two modern bathrooms, both with showers and the master bathroom features a bath.
Outside, Skye Lair has its own garden with a timber decking area and outdoor seating. The perfect spot on a sunny summer day to soak up some Scottish sun and relax in complete tranquillity. Or you can set off on one of the beautiful walks and make the most of the landscape right from your front door. You’ll find guide books and maps in the house to provide a little inspiration. An itinerary for a great day trip might take you to across the island to the Neist Point Lighthouse via Dunvegan and the Coral Beach, stopping off at the world-class Three Chimneys for lunch. Or walk out to the dramatic Point of Sleat, visiting the Aird Old Church Gallery on the way where talented locals artists and jewellers display their work. All before returning to Skye Lair to relax in front of the fire.
