Rumple cottage is a Grade II listed building and an absolute joy to behold and makes the perfect getaway for couples seeking a respite from daily life. Built in the 1840's, the cottage originally served as an agricultural building and has now been converted into an absolutely stunning holiday home.
Upon entering you'll be greeted by an explosion of colour. The living room is a gorgeous mix of pink, orange and green, with one stylishly papered feature wall and a Jotul wood burner surrounded by framed art and very cool ornaments. It begs to be photographed and is a really cosy room where you can relax on the comfy velvet sofa and enjoy a movie night. Rather than a boring old TV the owners have installed an 80” projector screen which pulls down on the other side of the room, in front of an original exposed stone wall, providing a very private cinema experience. You can plug it into your phone or laptop and stream to your heart's content.
The kitchen and dining room is modern with clean lines, painted in pale soothing colours and comes fully equipped with Bosch and Smeg appliances. Check out the very cool electric blue Smeg fridge! Cook a feast, open some wine and enjoy a long lazy meal at the dining table. There's also a downstairs bathroom with an amazing Rainforest Tower Shower providing a bracing and luxurious start to the day!
When it's time to rest, head up the stairs to your gorgeous big, double perspective bedroom which is flooded with light in the day. This room is special. As well as the big brass art deco bed and the carefully curated furniture, the owners have installed a freestanding nickel bath which you can bob around in with a glass of champagne. They've even converted an old airing cupboard into a small en-suite toilet.
The cottage has both a front and back garden rife with wild flowers and olive trees where you can catch the sun all day long or start the day in pretty and peaceful surroundings with your first coffee.
Wingfield is a small idyllic village on the Wiltshire/Somerset and Cotswold border. It has a great local pub – The Poplars - where you can get a good pint and is a great spot from which to begin a lovely country walk around the local area.
You'll only be a 20 minute drive from Bath city centre and a six minute drive from Bradford on Avon train station, so there's plenty nearby to explore. If you fancy a longer walk, Bradford on Avon can be reached via a lovely stroll along the river and canal and it's well worth a visit with its picturesque streets and rich history. You might enjoy one of their boat trips after which you can explore the market square and medieval bridge. It's a full day out and there are a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs to enjoy whilst you're there.
Bath also has a lot to offer and is a great place to eat, shop or visit one of its famous spas for a day of luxury and treatments. However you choose to spend your days, at the end of it you get to come home to Rumple Cottage, throw some wood on the burner, switch on the projector and put your feet up.
