Set amidst the rugged landscape of a private estate in the Central Highlands, An Caisteal and Red Stag are modern, four bedroom chalets, perfect for families or groups of friends. The chalets are mirror images of each other, spread over two floors and furnished in a contemporary Scandinavian style. Wake up to stunning views of the Ben More mountain burn waterfall and Glen Dochart beyond. After long days exploring the Portnellan Estate and the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park beyond, put your feet up in front of the wood burning stove or enjoy a long soak in the jacuzzi bath.
The large open plan living, dining and kitchen spaces provide lovely social areas, ideal for big dinners together after a busy day outdoors and cosy evenings in. These spaces are located on the top floors of the chalets with plenty of natural light streaming through huge triple glazed windows and rooflights. This also means that you can make the most of those stunning views over the mountain of Ben More and the valley below. There are two lounge areas, one centred around a wood burning stove and large patio windows and the other around the huge TV.
You’ll find three of the bedrooms downstairs, all with luxurious underfloor heating and triple glazed windows. The main bedroom has a super king size bed and two leather armchairs set in front of floor to ceiling windows with views over the mountains and the waterfall. There’s another king size double and a twin on this floor and all of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. The fourth bedroom, another king size double, is on the first floor.
The Portnellan Estate is ideally located for exploring Central Scotland and the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. You’ll also find plenty to do on your doorstep within the Portnellan Estate itself. You’ll be able to try your hand at salmon and trout fishing in the estate’s river and loch or give clay pigeon shooting a go. There are trails throughout the estate for walking and mountain biking and there are also kayaks, Canadian canoes and paddleboards if you’d prefer to explore by water.
