In the heart of the historic Cotswolds region of England, Pear Tree Cottage is an idyllic four hundred year old stone house. This property has been lovingly maintained and decorated with eco-friendly materials and is available to rent as a self-catered holiday property. Combining original features with judicious contemporary design touches, Pear Tree Cottage is the ideal getaway for families and couples looking to spend time in the Cotswolds in a well-preserved gem with excellent amenities.
Everything about Pear Tree Cottage stays true to the authentic farmhouse-chic style, from the exposed timber beams overhead in the sun-filled living room to the flagstone-floored kitchen, creating a sense throughout the property of rustic charm. Downstairs, the kitchen is something of a central hub, as the historic heart of this country house. While it has retained the pleasing original beams, flooring and fixtures, there is also a large family fridge, a six person dining room, and state of the art culinary equipment, including everything you need to prepare feasts for the whole group. Dinners can be enjoyed in the kitchen or outside, making use of the al fresco dining furniture in the garden.
Off the kitchen, you'll find the cosy snug, with its television, and direct access to the comprehensive cottage garden, replete with herbs, bee-friendly flowers, and vegetables. Upstairs, there are two large bedrooms, each boasting far-reaching views out over the gardens and the stunning Cotswolds countryside beyond. There are also two full bathrooms, and a toilet/utility room, all decorated with a boho-chic charm which makes them a delight to be inside. From the bath tub itself you can look out over the private courtyard. There are also two day beds in the living room, which can easily be set up as a child-sized double bed.
The Cotswolds remains one of England's most celebrated rural idylls, beloved by visitors and locals alike for its extraordinary beauty and quaint atmosphere. From Pear Tree Cottage, you are ideally located to make the trip to the South Cerney lakes, just ten minutes away in the car, host to a number of wild swimming spots and water sports opportunities. Bibury is right on the doorstep, and a quintessential Cotswolds village, and guests can take the walk along the Coln Valley to Coln St Aldwyns to have a pint and a slap up meal at the New Inn. Burford is another unmissable and picturesque nearby village, and a great place to go for fly fishing enthusiasts. The stone baked pizza at The Stump, close to Poulton, is fantastic, and the produce at Jessie Smith farm shop is well worth picking up for dinner.
