Couples seeking a restful escape in the Somerset countryside should look no further than this pair of beautiful bespoke lodges. Oakwater Escapes is fully powered by solar energy and both lodges are kitted out with all the conveniences you’d find at home, not to mention 100 square feet of covered decking outside for enjoying a glass or two of bubbly from the welcome hamper on a balmy evening.
The two dog-friendly cabins are called Water’s Edge and Cedar Lodge. The living space in each lodge is clutter-free and bright. In Water’s Edge, the orange tones add a touch of warmth to the room. Whereas in Cedar Lodge the pastel greens complement the marvellous countryside surroundings.
A bioethanol fireplace not only keeps things toasty in both lodge, but the flame effect also creates a cosy atmosphere. Plus, the soft sofa in each lodge encourages you to curl up in front of your favourite show on the 50-inch TV. From the living area, you’ll access the kitchen diner, with all the appliances and utensils required for creating your favourite no-nonsense recipes.
Head to the bedroom for plenty of storage space, a sumptuous king size bed dressed in luxury cotton sheets and a dressing table for getting ready in the morning. The bathroom in both lodge is sleek and modern, with everything you need for freshening up after a revitalising walk around the local area.
When the sun is shining, you’ll spend all your time outside and both lodges have lovely decks where you can soak up the sunshine.
Water’s Edge features an alfresco dining area and a hanging egg chair where you can relax with a good book, whilst Cedar Lodge has a handmade oak barrel rocking chair and an outside picnic table. However, both lodges also have their own log-fired Japanese soaking tub which offers a real touch of luxury! Dressing gowns and a range of bath salts are provided to make the experience even more relaxing.
Listen to the gentle babble of Dowlish Brook with a cup of tea in hand before lacing up your walking boots and exploring the Blackdown Hills. Bicycle storage is available on the premises if you’d prefer to get around on two wheels. The pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops of Ilminster are reached in five minutes by car. Or why not spend the day at Barrington Court, built in the 16th century and only a 15-minute drive away?
