Set in its own private field in Devon, this luxury shepherd’s hut makes for a peaceful and relaxing rural retreat for two. Featuring a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub and a fire pit this is a great spot to enjoy the outdoors and reconnect with nature without sacrificing any of those home comforts.
The interior has been thoughtfully designed and beautifully finished with oak floors and a king-size bed. The luxurious bed is in a cosy nook with a lambswool duvet, natural cotton bedding and a soft woollen throw to keep you toasty whatever the weather outside. There’s also a smart TV at the foot of the bed. You can lie back in bed and enjoy the stars through the windows as the lack of light pollution means they put on quite a show on clear nights.
The shepherd’s hut is slightly larger than most, allowing for a spacious living area and a handcrafted kitchen. There are comfy chairs and a table under the window so you can enjoy the view while tucking into breakfast. There’s also a wood-burning stove in the corner, keeping you warm. Sliding oak doors lead through to the bathroom, complete with a shower, plenty of hot water and fluffy towels and bathrobes.
Outside, you’ll find a wood-fired Scandinavian Karami hot tub, perfectly positioned so you can sit back and relax while enjoying the view. There are also some loungers, a fire pit and outdoor furniture so you can enjoy your meals outside. If you need some shelter from the weather, there’s a covered area which also includes a sink, wood-burning stove and a barbecue. There’s some extra storage out here too, ideal for your outdoor gear.
Moonbow Hut is in a fantastic location for exploring the countryside and the coast with the sea just 12 miles away to the west and Dartmoor 12 miles to the east. You can set out on some great walks from the hut itself. Head across the fields to Clawmoor Woods and try the two mile loop which takes you by Claw Lake to get your bearings. Or hop in the car for the short drive to the coast of North Cornwall and tackle some of the coastal path. Explore the local market town of Holsworthy where you’ll find some great restaurants and shops to pick up supplies for the barbecue.

A true hidden gem! Just got home from a magical few nights away to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we enjoyed every moment of our time in our hut. From booking to departure our experience has been second to none. This hut is spotless and has everything you could possibly need and more. We relaxed on the sun loungers whilst the hot tub was warming up and watched a number of deer at the bottom of our field. We cooked a delicious meal in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed it whilst sat looking out towards the mystical forest. The location couldn't get anymore perfect as we spent an evening watching the stars relaxing in the hot tub and listening to the owls around us. Moonbow Escapes, we will be back! Thank you.

We stayed in the shepherd's hut for a weekend in August and it was absolutely great! It has everything that you need. The location is easy to find and in a peaceful spot. The hut is close enough to the coast to be able to explore the area. The place felt super homely and was great for a relaxing getaway. Whether we wanted to be cosy inside or take in the views outside it was perfect. Slyvia is a great host and I would definitely stay again. xx

We stayed for a weekend in the shepherds hut and it was exactly what we needed, a perfect idyllic spot. The place was spotless and had everything you needed from coffee machine to a wood fired hot tub. We spent a lot of time in Bude which wasn’t too far to travel to and also enjoyed the walk around the woods that’s just at the bottom of the field. We will definitely be coming back. Sylvia was a great host and had put thought into everything ! Couldn’t recommend it enough.

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend at moonbow escapes. We have stayed in huts before but this by far was the most luxurious, and well thought through. It was so secluded and peaceful, yet also not too far to explore other areas of Cornwall & Devon. Most of all though, the bed was comfy and they even did a little package for our dog. Our host was also contactable if we needed anything. Fantastic stay and would highly recommend!

Wow!!! What can i say? This place is absolutely perfect. We have stayed in many different dog friendly huts/cabins around England like this one but this is the only one that has ticked every single box & the hosts have honestly thought of everything. We arrived to chocolates & milk in the fridge & our dog even had a bone on her bed which were lovely touches after a long journey from yorkshire. The bed is the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. The shower was very spacious. All oils, sauces etc were there as well as kitchen roll, pots, pans & even plastic cups for the hot tub. Little touches like robes, binoculars, torch, extra towels for the dog, shampoo next to the outdoor sink where we could bath our dog after walks were all great. There was a BBQ & plenty of wood for the hottub. Also a lovely outdoor area undercover so you can sit & listen to the amazing wildlife nearby. The cabin is very private; we didn't see 1 person while we were there. The only tiny thing that might be a problem for someone people was the door to the bathroom is a sliding door and it did roll back & open slightly, so we put the edge of a towel under it when using the bathroom to stop it opening. Our dog is disabled and she gets around on wheels so we didn't get to walk down the field into the woods as the grass was very long so she couldn't get through but that wasn't a problem for us as we went to the beach 20 mins away instead. There's lots to do in the area and everywhere we went was dog friendly. If you visit definitely go see the sunset at widemouth bay, it's beautiful! Thankyou for a lovely, relaxing stay! We will be back.

We have just returned from a beautiful weekend at Moonbow Escapes. The Shepherds Hut is very secluded, and surrounded by idyllic countryside. The hut itself is superbly appointed, with everything we needed for a luxury weekend away. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub - looking out at the beautiful countryside. Sylvia is an excellent host. We had all the information we needed before we arrived and had an excellent stay.

We’ve just got back from a weekend break, we stayed for 3 nights, such a perfect setting, everything is finished at a high standard, perfect views, secluded, if your looking for a romantic getaway this is your place! Hot tub was great , everything you need, the only thing I think they could add is a pizza oven or something similar but overall what a lovely stay!!

Our weekend stay in Moonbow 2 with our dog was perfect. The hut is very spacious and all amenities are top notch. Sylvia gave us info on a great local forest walk. The setting is rural and tranquil. Our dog jumped out of the van and ran around the field for 3 days just loving the open space. Anyone looking for a shepherds hut won’t be disappointed.

Booked this for myself and my partner to celebrate his birthday. We took our little dog too, absolutely amazing, can not wait to stay again. So so clean and tidy had all the essentials and a bit more, kitchen is very well equipped. There were some lovely little touches also, nice coffee machine and a small milk in the fridge and binoculars for watching wildlife and so on. Hot tub was by far our highlight and watching the wildlife, we saw a lot of deer. The wood supply was plenty for the fire pit and hot tub, we didn’t use the log burner. The views are incredible and the surroundings are ideal feeling far enough away from the buzz of normal life but there is plenty on the door step to do we paid a visit to bude! On recommendation of the owners! The supplies for the dog were also so lovely! The weather was fairly on our side but even if it hadn’t of been the visit would still have been lovely. Plenty to do near by. The contact from the lady who owns the Shepard’s huts was amazing, she was very helpful and friendly and answered any questions around our booking. Highly highly recommend this stay! And we can not wait to visit again! Thank you for having us

Such an amazing 2 night stay. The hut is situated in a huge field & is beautiful inside with solid wood shutters, stunning units & big comfortable bed which really makes this 5 star luxury. Despite the cold & rain on our first night we were kept lovely & warm inside with the log burner & constant central heating. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights with our beloved dog Ella & we had such peaceful break. Sylvia has thought of absolutely everything for both human & furry guests. We relaxed in the incredible Finnish wood fired hot tub on the second night & watched the sun go down. The setting is stunning & all adds to that feeling of really being treated to something special. We were even able to use the dog cleaning station to shower Ella after a beautiful circular walk around the forest. A lovely experience throughout, from start to finish Sylvia was so helpful and told us everything we needed to know about the Hut, hot tub and things to do in the surrounding areas. The Shepherds Hut was absolutely gorgeous, had everything we needed and more, and lovely finishing touches such as a coffee machine and complimentary robes. The hot tub was lovely and easy to use once we got the hang of it! Plenty of logs and kindling to keep us going. The Hut felt well secluded and like we were in our own little world. Overall a lovely stay, we will definitely be back :)

Wow, we had the most wonderful stay at Moonbow Escapes. A whole weekend of tranquility and peace. Set in beautiful surroundings; the shepherd's hut and all of the facilities Sylvia and Mike have provided are top quality. The way the property is presented is by far one of the best places we have stayed. You can feel the love that has gone into everything at Moonbow. The little touches, the extras, and the finish throughout is just so well thought about. If you want a weekend away, some peace and tranquility, privacy, evening sunsets, being in a hot tub looking at the stars, long walks in the countryside, sitting reading in the sunshine or in the outdoor hut if the weather isn't kind, this is the place for you.

Incredible place! Beautiful setting halfway between the moor and the coast. A lovely little cabin which has been stocked with everything you could ever think of needing! Even in cold and rainy weather, a very enjoyable stay! Very pretty forest at the bottom of the field and lots of wildlife nearby!

We stayed in January, originally booked for 2 nights, but once we'd seen how lovely it was, we had to book an extra night!! The setting was beautiful and the hut was really well decorated and presented. Lots of little extra touches for us and the pup. We really appreciated how well looked after we were, with local walks explained to us and more wood being dropped off for our extra night. Already planning our next visit.

What an odylic, wonderful shepherds hut Moonbow 2 is. We had the perfect three night break away in a beautiful, tranquil spot which we will definitely return to. The hut decor was beautiful and provided everything with some really lovely special touches, shower gel, robes, pooch bed and towels, lots of fire wood etc. The hot tub was magical in the evening, sat listening to the wildlife in the dark. We had a fabulous stay and managed to expore the coast and forest walks which were perfect for our dog. We highly recommend Moonbow 2 to everyone wanting a relaxing break away! Back from another wonderful stay at moonbow escapes, our second visit and it just gets better every time. This time however we had our fury companion with us. Loads of lovely touches from a doggy wash area for the dirty paws, a nice dog bed with towels & complimentary treats to help settle in. Really could not of wanted anymore which is why we came back and will be back for many more visits. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning. A beautiful quiet little slice of paradise perfect for exploring and getting lost in an environment of huge tree and fresh water streams. Absolutely brilliant!

What an absolutely wonderful experience! This shepherds hut is everything you could want it to be and is so well thought out, right down to the soft rugs to curl up in, on the comfy chairs outside by the fire. We arrived just as it was getting dark to this tranquil spot, lit the fire with the complimentary wood and also lit the fire for the hot tub. It only took an hour and a half to heat, which was the right amount of time to sit down, listen to the owl and relax. We have loved our short stay here, there are some fantastic walks in the area and in only a couple of days we have totally recharged our batteries! We would definitely return and will be recommending Moonbow to everyone! Thank you.

We were really quite enamoured with the Moonbow location and Hut 2. Perfectly clean and new, and ALL amenities were so carefully thought about from the kitchen equipment/treats - to the assistance for the fires/BBQ and Kirami hot tub - this was a truly lovely find! It may not be as secluded as Hut 2 that sits further away from country lane, however it does offer absolute privacy and connection to the wilderness and forestry/lake that lie only a mile or so away’s walk. We were mesmerised by our weekend and would definitely return!

The whole experience, space and facilities were amazing! We were kind in the middle of nowhere but without feeling that, since there were are houses nearby. Very clean, very comfy, warm, and with so nice touches. Having a barbecue and a firepit outside were another amazing experience. Not to mention the hot tub as well! Moonbow escapes Shepherds Hut is absolutely amazing. We had the most glorious weather. Heatwave. The hot tub was a god send as we sat in it as a cool tub. There was everything you needed in the Hut. Honestly my partner and I had the most wonderful stay and cannot wait to go back! Right from the beginning the communication was flawless, informative and crystal clear. Our hostess Sylvia wad fantastic and accommodating from start to finish. The hut itself was absolutely stunning, with all the amenities and more that you could need! And not to forget about the view... well we were blessed with stary nights and bright sunny days and it was utterly picturesque! We had everything we needed and cleat instructions for using the wood fired hot tub (that was bliss), and a 10 minute drive from Waitrose and a small M&S in Holsworthy. Without a doubt we would absolutely recommend this to anyone!

So we’d looked for somewhere really special and unique for celebrating our Pearl Wedding Anniversary and didn’t we get lucky!!! Everything was beautiful from the start to the finish. Every detail had been thought about from location, to the hut and the amenities. Wow where do we start. The shepherd hut is stunning, well equipped with everything you could possibly need - lovely big comfortable bed with beautiful decor. Outside you are alone with nature in what can only be described as beautiful fields and woodland best viewed from the hot tub. We saw swifts, buzzards, all manor of butterflies and our personal favourite - watching the deer grazing in the next field. If you're looking for a private peaceful retreat this is the place to go and I would recommend to family and friends. Finally if you're looking for a great place for an evening meal, lovely food, big portions and well priced The Bickford Arms is only a five minute drive away.

Honestly the most enchanting and idyllic little hide away from reality. The hut is so beautifully decorated and everything is catered for, from all your basics to the personal touches, such as binoculars to watch the wildlife, robes for the hot tub and all the little things you'd need for a lovely stay. The hot tub takes a little while to warm up but it is so worth it, great way to unwind and enjoy the views around you. There is also such a lovely walk through the fields and woods just outside your door. Our hosts were so lovely and helpful with anything and everything, our original visit had to be change due to the storm we had months ago but I'm glad we got to come in May, wild flowers in the fields, birds and wildlife roaming about, it was truly lovely! We are both feeling refreshed! Definitely be booking to come and stay again!

My husband and I booked the Shepherds Hut for a much needed break from work and general R&R. And this place did not disappoint! As soon as we entered the hut we both felt immediately relaxed. The hut itself is surprisingly big inside and has all the amenities you need for a cosy stay away. Sylvia was available throughout the stay to help with any questions we had. The weather wasn’t on our side, however we used the time to visit some lovely pubs and had a lovely drive along the coast. We also managed to sit under the outside shelter on an evening with the log burner on and when the stars were out it was truly spectacular! We’ll definitely be booking again, looking forward to trying the hot tub next time! ????. I’ve attached a couple of pics so you can see it from a customer perspective. Thanks again for having us!
