From its humble beginnings as a simple farmhouse, Mathers Farm has been converted into a stylish and luxurious country retreat. Set in the verdant Yorkshire countryside, close to the Peak District National Park and Trans Pennine Trail, the house comes equipped with a large hot tub, air hockey table, underfloor heating and a gorgeous patio and lawned garden. Perfect for a relaxing break for families or a group of up to 12 friends.
On your approach, Mathers Farm makes an impressive sight. It is made up of an attractive converted farmhouse and a separate accommodation building, crafted in sympathetic period style. The two buildings are linked by a sky-lit underground corridor.
The spacious interior oozes rustic charm. Beautifully renovated with painted wood panelling, dark feature walls, solid wood furniture and gorgeous wallpaper, the house will have you feeling relaxed and at home as soon as you walk through the door.
In the main building, an open-plan area comprises a fully-equipped kitchen with a dining table and a living area. The kitchen and a separate utility room come equipped with three ovens, two hobs, an American-style fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, two dishwashers, a tumble dryer and a cafetière. So you have everything at your disposal to whip up hearty meals for your group.
After a long day’s adventuring, relax in the restful first-floor lounge. There’s room for everyone on the soft grey sofas to enjoy a film night or simply chat with a glass of wine. For entertainment, the property has an air hockey table, Wi-Fi and no less than eight TVs.
With all but one of the bedrooms housed in a separate building, you’ll have a peaceful night's sleep away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and living areas. The stylish and spacious bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers and one has a bath. Five of the bedrooms are accessed via the underground corridor and the sixth sits just off the main lounge.
The outside area makes a fantastically sociable space to gather. There’s a patio with a large hot tub and seating area, where you can enjoy an al fresco meal with a view of the luscious lawn that slopes upwards towards some trees.
Mathers Farm makes a wonderful base to explore the Yorkshire countryside. There are plenty of walks from your doorstep, including the famous Trans Pennine Trail and the Peak District National Park is a short drive away. Penistone, one mile from the cottage, hosts a fantastic range of shops and cafes, as well as a lovely old cinema showing movies and live shows. The small village of Thurlstone, a short walk away, is a good place to stock up on essentials.
