Magnificent, large luxury Lake District cottage that's ideal for big groups who want to unwind in style.
Time sensitive - don't hang around...
Large groups looking for a luxury spot to enjoy birthdays, hen-dos and get-togethers will love Alice Howe. This lovely, traditional slate house is an example of classic Lakeland architecture and was designed by the architect Augustus Pugin.
Pugin was renowned as a pioneer of the Gothic revival style and this is in evidence throughout this spacious and luxurious property, from the moment you step through the imposing and romantic Gothic-arched threshold.
Once inside you will experience warmth and luxury in abundance. There are three social areas, essential for hosting large groups. The kitchen is spacious but cosy, thanks to a big wood burning stove, and it is exceptionally well-equipped for cooking up a storm. There is a large dining table, great for relaxed, leisurely breakfasts and a big range oven, perfect when catering for large groups.
Of course, for special occasions, the formal dining room will be more appropriate. A grand dining table makes room for all the guests and a wonderful Gothic-style fireplace and a chandelier make marvellous, atmospheric, centrepieces to the room.
And after dinner settle into the living room, which boasts huge, leather Chesterfield sofas. It makes the ideal spot to take the party for drinks and games. Soft lighting, thanks to candles and lamps, make for a relaxing environment to cut loose and make memories with the special people in your life.
You can also enjoy a movie night in your own in-house cinema. Alice Howe has a 15 seat cinema in the cellar with 75 inch smart TV and sound bar. Log into your Netflix or Amazon prime account and go to the movies in the privacy of your holiday cottage.
On summer evenings head outside onto the patio where you can enjoy digestifs underneath the night sky, or fire up the roomy seven-seater hot tub, for a warm and relaxing outdoor soak.
At bedtime, a magnificent wooden bannister leads you upstairs, warm tartan carpets underfoot, to the bedrooms. Four-poster beds feature in two of the seven bedrooms, and a further five of the rooms have en suite bathrooms. There are two more bath/shower rooms in the property.
One thing standard in all the rooms is individual styling guaranteed to give you a great night's sleep and when you wake you are treated to archetypal Lakeland views, lush, green fields, stone walls, and a view of Orrest Head.
You'll be itching to get your walking boots on and head up to the fells. Orrest Head can be accessed from the front door, but there is plenty to occupy everyone, not just the walkers.
Maybe go boating on Lake Windermere, which is just a 15 minute stroll through town, or try out country pursuits such as archery and clay pigeon shooting. Foodies will love the great restaurants and gastropubs, the Michelin starred Gilpin Hotel is just two miles from Windermere and there are many other great dining options within walking distance, including the The Angel Inn and The Lamplighter.
