Learn moreNature meets art in these four unique places to stay, tucked away in the Italian countryside and designed to inspire creativity. The dream of two former theatre professionals, Masseria LoJazzo includes accommodation in traditional stone buildings, a greenhouse library and a sensory park with ancient trees, all surrounded by wild Mediterranean scrubland.
With big spaces to get lost in and welcoming rooms in which to relax, this unique destination allows you to surround yourself with nature and get away from the demands of everyday life. Whether you choose to stay in a traditional trullo - a dry stone hut with a cone shaped roof - or one of the welcoming suites, you’ll be sure to have an Italian escape to remember.
Sleeping up to three people, Suite Demetra cleverly blends traditional features with contemporary design. Accessed via an ancient stone staircase, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the countryside which can even be enjoyed from the sunken bath tub in the private bathroom.
With a bed surrounded by calming stones, a plush sofa for relaxing on and picturesque orchard views, Mini Suite Berenice offers a tranquil getaway for two. The simple yet elegant suite also features a private bathroom and private patio.
Sleeping two people in each, Trullo Zefiro and Trullo Libeccio are great choices for a romantic retreat. The atmospheric rooms are intimate and airy and each boasts a loft bed where you can stargaze through the ancient skylight, a private bathroom and a shady patio. Zefiro has old cinema seats perfectly placed to overlook the orchard and Libeccio has relaxing rocking chairs from which to admire the view.
With a 20-hectare sensory park to explore, ancient woodland awaiting, a greenhouse library for stocking up on books and an on-site bistro serving delicious food, Masseria LoJazzo is a destination in itself and you could be forgiven for not wanting to leave this tranquil base. But if you do feel the need to venture further afield and explore the popular Puglia region, you’ll find an array of whitewashed hilltop towns, including pretty Ceglie Messapica, centuries-old farmland and mile upon mile of scenic coastline.
