Mas Roure Vell stands in the Girona region of North Eastern Spain, an area renowned throughout the world for its rugged, dramatic mountain landscapes. Sleeping up to fourteen guests between two buildings, the villa is breath-taking in its architecture and interior design, with a recent refurbishment bringing the comforts of high-speed WiFi and high-end kitchen appliances, without compromising on the beauty of this well-preserved period house.
In the larger main building four full suites are arranged around the central, communal spaces. Each bedroom benefits from a sweeping view of the expansive private grounds to the front or the La Garrotxa mountains to the rear.
The kitchen contains the latest in gadgetry and ample surface space to cook up a feast for your guests, although with prior communication, a local chef can be engaged to cater, using the organic produce grown on the seven acres of private land devoted to small-scale farming. A television room is also found in this building.
In a freestanding guesthouse arranged over two floors, guests can enjoy the use of a second kitchen, as well as a living room and staggering views of the natural park below.
Between the dappled shade created by a roof of wisteria blossom, an array of nooks and tile benches, and an expansive private swimming pool, there is no shortage of space to take in the Girona morning and evening light with a glass of local wine and a book, while guests wanting to work up an appetite are encouraged to explore the 13 hectare estate, with its farms, fields and forests. For the comfort and security of guests, a husband and wife team living in the grounds are on hand in the event of an emergency, and can conduct routine maintenance.
Mas Roure Vell is a gorgeous and luxurious idyll regardless of the event, group size, or time of year. With its proximity to the Pyrenees, the villa is often co-opted by winter sports enthusiasts drawn to the world-class skiing of the nearby mountain ranges, while large parties will be found throughout the year, drawn by the beauty of the blossoms, the delectable cuisine, and local culture.
