We had a delightful 4 nights in this magnificent 'Boathouse'. Imaginatively designed (though facing NNE, sun shines through well-placed windows), the view was breathtaking and the situation so quiet and peaceful . . . hard to believe bustling Salcombe and Portlemouth beaches a few minutes away. South Pool Creek provides endless interest, watching the tides soo relaxing and wonderful skies. Take to the water on kayak provided (actually lucky we had brought our own, as this one proved a bit too heavy for us to use) and drift into a delightful dream world. Excellent walks in the area : Coast Path to Gara Rock and the Start Point circuit should on no account be missed. Gripes ? None really, though the 24 steps should be taken into account, and note also made that there is no microwave. But this property has our very highest recommendation. Many Thanks, John and Meg.

A beautifully appointed and magnificently situated retreat on the South Pool Creek. So quiet and peaceful if it weren't for the water lapping you might have been struck deaf ! A lovely outlook across the creek to green fields and cows. In advance, my reservations were that it faces North North East (but it turned out that ithas been cleverly designed to make the most of Summer sun), and looks out on a vista of mud at low tide (but this turned out to be interesting rather than whiffy). In the event our only (minor) gripes were 24 steep steps between parking-place and Boathouse (we were warned about that), no microwave (rather strangely), and the provided kayak was too heavy for 2 small septuagenarians to make use of (never mind ; we had brought something else of our own we could use . . . . ). Otherwise we really can't speak too highly of this as a perfect place for a break, within easy reach of wonderful coastline (Start Point, Mattiscombe, Lannacombe, East Prawle, Gara Rock and the Portlemouth Beaches), the much better side of the Salcombe Estuary, and Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes within easy reach. Incredible Devon lanes to satisfy the adventurous driver, an excellent new coffee shop at the top of the East Portlemouth village . . . a brilliant place to enjoy. We hope to come again ! John and Meg.
