Enjoy a romantic retreat at Honeysuckle Cottage in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Located near Ashbourne this lovingly restored stone cottage offers a luxury self catering escape for couples.
Stepping inside guests enter the farmhouse style, fully equipped kitchen, complete with handmade wooden surfaces and cupboards, oak beams, a tiled floor and pretty stone lintel. The space is light and airy and has a range cooker, retro fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave and coffee machine meaning you can cook up plenty of delights. There is also a dining table for 2 for romantic evenings in. The kitchen leads into a cosy living room with its solid oak floor, comfy leather sofa, wood burner, handmade Moroccan rug and flatscreen TV. Whether curling up with a book, watching your favourite programmes on TV, or simply enjoying a glass of wine, this space is perfect for relaxing and unwinding.
A short trip upstairs via the handmade oak staircase leads into a dressing area and then the boutique style bedroom. In here is the king size 'poets bed', which was handcrafted in the nearby spa town of Matlock, complete with designer bed linen. Once again there is a solid oak floor, while the original stone fireplace adds that extra bit of charm. There is a snuggle seat where you can sit by the fire with a good book, along with an iPod dock and another flatscreen TV. Off the bedroom is the stunning ensuite bathroom, with its deep freestanding bath and views out across the rolling hills. There is also a separate shower cubicle, all lit up by a chandelier.
Exiting from the kitchen guests can then discover the outside space. A private walled terrace is home to a Canadian spa hot tub, as well as a red cedar barrel sauna for 2 for the ultimate relaxation. Alfresco dining or an evening drink can be enjoyed at the outside table and chairs, which sits beside the private garden.
Situated in Kirk Ireton, the charming village dates back to the 12th Century and has a well stocked shop and Barley Mow Inn. A couple of miles further is the market town of Wirksworth, with its independent shops, while a little further on are Ashbourne and Bakewell. There are also walking, cycling and even sailing opportunities at the nearby Carsington reservoir.
