Nestled in its very own private valley Holwell Farmhouse is a spacious and traditional country house, available to be rented on a self-catering basis, and highly recommended for larger parties looking for a truly special and unique experience in Devon. Easily capable of accommodating up to sixteen guests in six bedrooms, and dating back over seven hundred years in its construction, Holwell Farmhouse is a one-of-a-kind space, and remains popular with large families, wedding groups, and groups of like minded friends whose idea of the dream getaway involves long walks, steep hillsides, cheery country pubs and group meals.
As you approach Holwell Farmhouse from the valley you know that you're in for a treat, and the moment you step through the historic entrance you and your party will realise that you're in a genuinely special place. While judicious touches like speedy broadband internet and super-king sized beds have brought comfortable modern touches to the house, the historic architecture and furnishings are staggeringly beautiful and authentic.
As you gaze out of the windows, the view stretches for miles in every direction, encompassing ancient hills and acres of woodlands and pasture. The walls are thick, the house is long, and the tranquility stretches out through the valley. Hungry guests will be pleased to learn that the kitchen is high contemporary, with everything that even the most ambitious home cooks will need to rustle up hearty breakfasts before the day's walk and cheery evening meals. And dinner can be enjoyed on the huge, grand dining table, that makes group meals a joy.
After a pint of excellent local beer at the pub, evenings are spent watching the last of the sunset from inside the walled garden, or snuggled up indoors with a book, a board game, and the conversation of old friends or family. The lounge is comfy and cosy and makes for a great spot for socialising with your loved ones.
Conveniently for guests with limited mobility, the first bedroom is on the ground floor, a single with the same soft mattresses and high-end bedlinen which characterise the space. Upstairs on the first floor you'll find find more bedrooms, each boasting a super- king sized bed. Three of these also benefit from integrated pull-out singles, meaning that Holwell Farmhouse can accommodate a broad range of parties with great versatility.
While the property is beautifully secluded and enviably unplugged from the stress and connectivity of contemporary life, it is by no means an isolated house. The charming town of Bampton is brimming with activity, offering everything from a world class shooting school to historic local pubs, like The White Horse Inn. There are numerous stately homes and even castles in the region, which is steeped in history going back to pre-Norman times. Seasonal livestock sales add rural charm, and the annual fair is a fantastic Westcountry experience.
