Hergest Lee Lean-To is situated in the tiny hamlet of Burlingjobb near Presteigne and Kington. It was built on the north end of an old threshing barn and is surrounded by soft green hills and ridges straddling the Anglo-Welsh border. Guests can reconnect with nature thanks to the beautiful surrounding Welsh scenery that includes forests, hills and trails right outside your door. The whole build, including the kitchen, windows, doors, bed, storage and staircase, was designed and handcrafted to create a continuity of style and tone.
Bifold doors open into the open-plan living space which features a double-height ceiling, creating a feeling of space. The charred black statement staircase, which is the focal piece of the room, extends the space and draws the eye upward. The interior colour palette shows deep, rich colours which contrast with the soft pink floor and birch ply walls. The timeless element of the classic mid-century style of furniture and also the sleek, modern aesthetic juxtaposed with interesting antiques and oddities create a striking and luxurious ambience.
The kitchen area has everything you need to make delicious meals and includes an induction hob, full-size Smeg oven, toaster, manual espresso machine and a small fridge. Treat yourself to a welcome hamper to help you settle in. You will also find board games and lots of books here for you to enjoy on chilly evenings.
There are two bunk areas that have comfy full-size single mattresses and opening windows. These are accessed by a ladder so although lots of fun for older children are not suitable for your smaller guests. There is a wet room/shower towards the back of the lean-to complete with fluffy towels and toiletries.
To the right of the floating staircase, you will find the sunken bath which is the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring and on the other side you will find the master bedroom, which offers a comfy king size bed with natural linen bedclothes, box storage shelves and beautiful Ib Kofad Larsson headboard. This really is a relaxing and tranquil space to retreat to at the end of the day for a peaceful night’s sleep.
Outside is the small enclosed gravel garden where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee with the bi-fold doors opening up into the lean-to letting the fresh Welsh air in. The firepit will provide a welcoming focal point where you can gather round to grill some food or just enjoy the warmth while watching the night skies.
Outside your door, the Radnor hills and forests are tranquil places to explore with dramatic landscapes. You can walk for miles and not see another soul, so discover the wild beauty of the scenery around you with only the local wildlife for company. Just up the road you can find the impressive waterfall 'Water Breaks its Neck' which is situated in Warren Wood and there are lots of crystal clear wild swimming spots close by.
