Right in the Brecon Beacons, one of the most picturesque regions of the Welsh countryside, Featheroo is the latest addition to the Wanderoo Glamping experience. Lovingly designed and expertly crafted using low-impact materials, Featheroo is a unique and character-filled space, perfect for couples, individuals and wilderness-lovers.
Featheroo is in a small and tranquil clearing where the only sounds are the gentle rustle of the trees and calls of the birds. Cleverly constructed from timber, sheet metal and glass, Featheroo is built in harmony with the surrounding area. Featheroo is a celebration of the Welsh environment which brings light and atmosphere inside, and enables guests to spend as long as possible taking in the air and sun which make this region so desirable. A roll-top bath tub has been set up outside, with a rain-shower arranged above. There’s nothing quite like starting the day drinking a cup of coffee in the bath while you taking in the morning sun and birdsong. The space is elegant, simple, and low-key. Attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship have been selected over cheap, bland ubiquitous features. Everything in Featheroo has a function, and the aesthetic is one of durability, pleasing design, and raw beauty.
The space is set up for a single person or couple, with one large and comfortable double bed within the light and airy space. The house is functional and weatherproof, with large picture windows and hardwood floors. The timber porch is the ideal spot to read, drink a gin and tonic, enjoy an al fresco meal, or simply while away the hours, feeling at one with your surroundings and allowing the calm of the environment to soak into you. Between the outdoors compost loo, the solar-powered phone charger and the outdoor bath and shower, Featheroo really does contain everything you need for a restorative time in Wales, getting back to nature and focusing on what is important.
For years the Brecon Beacons have been a well-kept secret among ramblers, outdoors enthusiasts and campers. With its clear, starry skies, family-run pubs and cycling trails, it's no wonder that visitors flock from all over the world to take in the magnificent topography. Featheroo is based on a pesticide and fertiliser-free 17 acre smallholding, with three mountain bike trials passing almost right by your door, ranging from the 8km beginner’s trail to a more ambitious 53km path. Everything from white-water rafting to wild-swimming, sheep walking to art galleries are all found in the near vicinity. Alternatively, head to Brecon in 15 minutes for a range of cultural and culinary experiences, plus the famous Brecon Jazz Festival. Alternatively, visit Hay-on-Wye, known for its literary scene and quaint architecture.

Could not recommend this place enough! In the most beautiful location and Kathryn was the most accommodating and wonderful host. Only got back yesterday and already looking to return. Thank you so much Kathryn and Simon- ps the books and board games were a lovely addition to the stay, got them on my book wish list now I'm home!

Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights. We had such an amazing time! All the fun of being in a very private and beautiful location but with the luxuries of hot water and and an oven / hob. The room quickly warmed up with the wood fire. Kathryn was incredibly helpful throughout our stay and was only the other end of the phone if we needed her. Would highly recommend a stay at featheroo! And the outdoor bath / shower is to die for! We will definitely be returning!
