This cosy cottage in the heart of the Dorset countryside is a wonderful location for a romantic escape. Duck Street Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed property, built in the early 1800s using stone from the nearby Sloes Hill. Lovingly renovated, the cottage is now a popular destination for getaways for couples looking to escape to the Dorset coast.
Step inside this charming thatched cottage and you’ll find a cosy living room with a sofa and an armchair gathered around a log burner, the perfect place to put your feet up on a chilly evening. The double bedroom features a luxurious super-king size bed which promises a delicious night's sleep. In the bathroom, you'll find a powerful shower and a separate bath where you can relax after a busy day exploring the Jurassic Coast. The kitchen is well kitted out with modern appliances, however, if you don’t fancy putting them to the test there are in house catering options provided by Symondsbury Estate. Or, head outside and fire up the gas barbecue while soaking up the outdoors in the private terraced garden.
The cottage is located on the Symondsbury Estate, parts of which date back to the 1400s. This is a wonderful little village to explore and Duck Street Cottage is just a short walk away from the local shops at Manor Yard, the pub and the church. To get a bird’s-eye view of the local area and even parts of the nearby coast, climb the nearby Colmers Hill and take in the spectacular scenery from the top.
There’s lots to do on the estate itself, with the village and farm to explore, walking and cycling trails, and even horse and carriage rides. There are also land to sea survival courses available for the more adventurous. If you want to head a little further afield and get down to the coast, the estate is just 10 minutes away from the nearest beach by car. The town of West Bay is located at the very end of the famous 18-mile long Chesil Beach. Head further east and you’ll find more of the spectacular landmarks of the Jurassic Coast, such as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.
