Hidden away on the coast of East Sussex, surrounded by the beautiful Romney Marsh, you’ll find the welcome comforts of Coastguards Beach House. With the hauntingly beautiful marshlands, the sound of the sea nearby and a historic stretch of the coast to enjoy, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world. This beautiful cottage was built in the nineteenth century for the coastguards who were employed to protect the coast against smuggling and invasion. It is now a cosy hideaway for holidaymakers escaping to the seaside.
Head inside the cottage and you’ll find an open-plan layout to the living spaces. The contemporary furnishings with wooden detailing and a bright colour palette evoke a seaside feel. The kitchen is a sociable space with a large breakfast bar and plenty of room for everyone to get involved with the food preparation. This opens out onto the cosy living room with armchairs and a comfy sofa gathered around a wood-burning stove which makes the perfect spot to relax after a day exploring the local area.
You’ll find the bedrooms and modern bathrooms upstairs, all with stunning views of the surrounding area. The master bedroom has a luxurious double bed where you can wake up to the sound of the waves and views over the sea and the garden below. The second bedroom has twin beds with the option of an additional fold-away single bed, making the cottage perfect for family trips. This bedroom also has an en suite shower room and both have un-spoilt views over the marsh.
Outside, you’ll find a peaceful and south-facing garden which is fully enclosed. Outdoor furniture and a barbeque make this the perfect place to end a day exploring the marshlands and the coast.
Walk just 80 metres from the cottage and you’ll be on the beach. The proximity to the sea and the surrounding farmland means that you’ll be served up delicious, locally sourced food such as Romney Marsh Lamb and Rye Bay Scallops in the local pubs. Romney Marsh is a haven for keen walkers with 100 square miles of diverse landscapes to explore. As well as the spectacular scenery, discover some of the many species of birds, insects and plants. For those who are a little more adventurous, there is a kitesurfing centre just five minutes’ walk down the road.
