Located on a family-run farm in the Cotswolds, Bunker Down has three Bell Tents and one Shepherd’s Hut to choose from for a unique glamping experience. The site is set on the edge of an airfield with gliders soaring overhead and two preserved WWII air raid shelters in the grounds. This is a fantastic opportunity to get back to basics and relax surrounded by some beautiful countryside.
Each of the Bell Tents can comfortably accommodate a family of four and includes a luxurious king-size bed. Outside, you’ll find your own fire pit with a grate so you can do some cooking in the great outdoors. Get the fire going and rustle up a delicious feast for the family after exploring the farm and perhaps one of the air raid shelters. In the summer months, sit out well into the evenings, toast some marshmallows and perhaps do a bit of stargazing. Each of the Bell Tents also has its own personal shower and toilet facilities.
The Shepherd’s Hut is a cosy and comfortable hideaway for two. The interior is surprisingly spacious and the furnishings give the feel of a contemporary country cottage with white walls and ceilings, and wooden beams and detailing. There’s a sumptuous king-size bed with built-in storage making the most of the space. The bed is set under a window so you can enjoy your morning coffee as you watch the sunrise over the surrounding countryside. The Shepherd’s Hut also has its own bathroom and a kitchen with cooking facilities.
Bunker Down is located in the north of the Cotswolds and surrounded by some beautiful countryside. The farm itself covers 500 acres and you can explore the fields and footpaths, taking in the stunning views along the way. There are country pubs and local cafes to stop off at for an energising coffee or a delicious roast lunch. There are some pretty Cotswolds villages to explore in the area too, such as Stow-on-the-Wold which is famous for its antique shops and bustling market square. For anyone interested in theatre, Stratford-Upon-Avon is less than half an hour’s drive away with the RSC putting on adaptations of work by Shakespeare and his contemporaries as well as original work from contemporary writers.
