Situated in the heart of the stunning Ribble Valley, close to Clitheroe and the small, picturesque village of Whalley, Bowland Retreat Lodges is a suite of beautifully built timber lodges, ideal for couples or smaller families. The Bowland Retreat Lodges are perfectly located for access to some of the most gorgeous landscape in the area, making these a great base for outdoors enthusiasts looking for a self-catering lodge with a little extra.
Each of the lodges is located in its own private patch, with an orientation designed to take advantage of the woodland views afforded by the site. They all benefit from their own outside decking space, as well as a private hot tub with every lodge. The dwellings themselves come in a variety of sizes, capable of accommodating two, four, or six guests
Inside, the lodges have a stylish, contemporary look which emphasises clean, sharp lines, and sleek finishes. The lodges are designed around an open plan living space which includes the high-end fitted kitchen with a breakfast bar for either food preparation or meals, and an area with comfortable sofas, facing the television, for relaxing. With floor to ceiling windows throughout the space, the light simply pours into this room, and on clear days, you can look out over the woodlands and see for miles in every direction. Every bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, so couples going away together don't have to share, and as well as the hot tub outside, the one bedroom lodges also come with full size tubs, as well as rain showers, and the same elegant fixtures which characterise the décor.
The Ribble Valley is brimming with things to do, from the Bowland Brewery and Clitheroe Castle to swimming pools, cinemas, a wild boar park and a fantastic food and beer hall. Particularly popular with outdoors enthusiasts looking to hike the lengthy trails, The Ribble Valley is a walker's paradise. Check out the nearby Tolkein Trail, or set off on any one of the dozens of bridleways cycling routes and footpaths which snake across the area, many of which are just a stone's throw from the lodges.
After a long day of exploring, check out one of the area's celebrated eateries, ranging from spots for coffee and cake to a Michelin starred restaurant, as well as a number of brilliant pubs with casual hearty fare in family-friendly environments. For fantastic Greek food in Clitheroe head to Brizola, or for something particularly special check out King Street Kitchen in Whalley. Alternatively, pick up great local produce, breads, meats and cheeses from the regularly farmers market in the area.
