Hidden away in the countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Wooden Hare is a peaceful escape for couples or families. This beautifully furnished lodge is the perfect spot to slow down the pace and recharge amidst some beautiful landscapes. Spend your days exploring the surrounding countryside with walks taking you alongside rivers and through dales. Head back to the lodge for a dip in the hot tub while you soak up the scenery before putting your feet up in the cosy living room and planning the next day’s adventures.
The lodge is set on a raised spot, overlooking its own private three acre field and out to the countryside beyond. Inside, you’ll find a contemporary, open-plan living, kitchen and dining area that feels bright and spacious with big windows and French doors letting in plenty of natural light. The kitchen is fully equipped for rustling up big hearty dinners after a day’s walking in the Yorkshire Dales and the dining table converts into a table tennis or pool table in case the weather keeps you indoors. In the evenings, snuggle up on the squishy sofas in the living room and get stuck into a game of cards.
There are two bedrooms, comfortably sleeping three guests plus one child. In the main bedroom, you’ll find a super-king size bed all made up in luxurious bed linen and with a TV mounted on the wall opposite. The second bedroom has two single beds and doubles as an office room should you need a quiet spot to get a few things done. The bedrooms share a bathroom that has a walk-in shower and a lovely roll-top bathtub, perfect for a long soak after a long walk or cycle.
On sunny days, open up the French doors in the living area and enjoy your meals with a view at the outdoor dining table on the deck. This is also where you’ll find the hot tub, perfectly positioned for you to enjoy the sweeping countryside scenery. There’s a lawn and a private field which is well secured in case you want to bring the dog along with you. Wooden Hare also has facilities that allow you to bring your horse along on holiday with you, including land for grazing, stables, a tack room and parking for a horse box.
With the Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep and the vibrant market town of Richmond less than 10 miles away, there’s plenty to do and explore in the area. Visit the beautiful ruins of Easby Abbey near Richmond, learn about the town’s Norman castle and wander through its cobbled Georgian marketplace. There are plenty of walks and bike rides right from the front door or head a little further into the Yorkshire Dales for some particularly scenic routes, such as the walk to Aysgarth waterfalls.
