Ideal for the romantics out there, Barns Tower is a gorgeous medieval holiday home with a dusty pink exterior that's set against mature woodland and spellbinding countryside.
Perched high up on the slopes of the River Tweed, Barns Tower is full of lovely luxury touches, with a roll top bath in the bedroom, luxury linen and not one, but two roaring open fires. It also boasts a spectacular location, with its idyllically remote setting just a few miles from the charming town of Peebles, and 45 minutes from Edinburgh. Top this off with breathtaking scenery and riverside walks from the door and you have a pure slice of Scottish heaven.
Inside this unique miniature castle you’ll discover beautiful, and sympathetically restored, interiors. The plaster pink walls of the lounge make an elegant backdrop for this handsome room. With an impressive fireplace, wooden floor and cozy seating nook (that also converts into two single beds), it’s the perfect room to relax in.
The fully equipped kitchen is a delightfully welcoming space with flagstone floors, a cozy dining area and captivating open fireplace. Pull up one of the comfortable chairs and enjoy a cozy night in. The rustic boot room, complete with cobbled floor and Belfast sink, has plenty of room for muddy wellies.
Up on the top floor you’ll discover the bedroom with its large double bed and roll top bath. With luxurious linens, fluffy towels and selection of toiletries, you’ll feel truly spoilt.
Outdoor adventures start right from the front door with walks aplenty - head to the river and take the scenic footpath all the way to the pretty town of Peebles with its picture-perfect high street. Even closer to home you can arrange a private tour of Neidpath castle and learn about its rich history - it’s been owned by no less than three famous Scottish families! And if you fancy taking a look around a larger castle, then Edinburgh is only 45 minutes away by car. It’s the ideal place to explore the Scottish Borders from.

Leave a reviewWe spent 3 nights at Barns Tower and enjoyed every moment. The tower itself was really warm and cosy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including some welcome essentials in the fridge such as butter, eggs and milk. Beautiful scenic walks right on our doorstep and the owner was able to give us a personal tour of Neidpath castle (highly recommended as is not open to the public). This is a real gem in the Highlands steeped in history. I am glad we had the opportunity to stay here.
