Å Auge Treehouse is a breath of fresh air for those that really want to escape into the wild. Nestled in a pine and spruce forest in central southern Norway, Å Auge Treehouse is a rather perfect slice of escapist heaven. Perched six meters above a beautiful forest, and the Tessungdae River that runs directly below, is a stunning architect designed treehouse. With no electricity or wifi, this is the place to come when you really want to get off grid. The combination of impeccable design and the marvel of mother nature makes this a rather dreamlike experience. Suiting both adventurers and dreamers in equal measure, it’s the perfect place to come and experience some gorgeous Norwegian hygge.
Head up the wooden staircase to take in the beauty of the treehouse and its surrounding forest. The heady mix of natural building materials, floor-to-ceiling windows and meticulously executed design will take your breath away. In the open-plan living area you can relax in the cosy alcoves, prepare dinner or just simply sit in the expansive window taking in the awe-inspiring view. Suited to groups of friends or families that really want to reconnect - with no distractions from the modern world. Bliss.
The well thought out kitchen has everything you need to cook up dinner - with a gas hob, pots and pans, and plenty of crockery. With water needing to be drawn from a local well, you will need to work for your dinner - but doesn’t it always taste better that way?
A handsome woodburner, thick sheepskins and a reindeer hide keep the living area suitably snug. And large candles provide ample atmospheric lighting. Enjoy candlelit evenings looking out through the vast window at the forest and river below. Evenings don’t get more hygge - just add hot chocolate.
The treehouse sleeps up to nine in three restful alcoves - with one king size bed, two doubles and three floor mattresses. Thick duvets, and plenty of sheepskins, ensure to keep you cosy throughout. And well-placed windows means that you’ll wake up to stunning tree top views.
The treehouse also happily houses a fully functioning wet room and bio-toilet. There’s even an outdoor bath for added relaxation.
Outside, and accessed by a wooden bridge, is a fabulous covered terrace overhanging the forest floor. With its own seating area, it’s a wonderful space to come and take in the sights and sounds of the forest and river below.
For those wanting to get even closer to nature, there are plenty of hiking routes from the door. And for those really wanting to adventure, the beautiful Hardangervidda national park is close by. Offering up wildly beautiful landscapes, cross-country skiing, fishing and hiking (to name a few). It’s an explorer’s paradise.
