The detail

Located close to the bustling and picturesque town of Penzance, the the Old School House is a charming and spacious former public building, built in the Victorian era and now refurbished into a self-catering cottage with room for up to six guests. Marrying minimalist, subtle interiors with historic architecture and contemporary amenities, the Old School House is the ultimate getaway for families or groups of friends who are interested in experiencing Cornwall's stunning beaches and thriving art and culinary scenes.??

Although the exterior is characterised by Victorian grandeur, inside the house itself you'll find lean lines, whitewashed walls and a low-clutter aesthetic. A large open plan living space incorporates the top of the range kitchen, a dedicated dining space with a six-person table, and the living room with its L-shaped sofa opposite a 55'' Smart TV. You'll also find a shower and utility room on this floor.??

Upstairs from this communal space there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other made up with twin singles, making this an ideal property for families. There's also a reading nook on that floor, and an additional two guests can be accommodated on the downstairs sofa, which opens up into a double bed. The property also benefits from a comfortable outdoor seating area, the ideal spot to take in the morning or evening light, and sit with a book peacefully taking in the surroundings.??

Inside the cottage, you'll be delighted by the light-filled rooms, the simple, elegant design, and the emphasis on comfort and style. Everything from the mattresses to the television, the oven to the bathroom fittings are all judiciously chosen without compromise, creating the kind of house where every feature is a delight, and just being in the space feels restorative.??

Whether you're a seasoned visitor to Cornwall or this is your first trip to the unspoiled region, you're in for a treat, and ideally located to take advantage of the charm and beauty that the county has to offer. As well as proximity to miles of sandy coastline and iconic beaches, you're also able to take advantage of cultural highlights like the Minack Theatre, the TATE St Ives, Newlyn Art Gallery and St Michael's Mount.

??For a unique swimming experience head to the Jubilee Pool in Penzance, and for unbeatable cuisine with an emphasis on local seafood, Ben's Cornish Kitchen is fantastic. For active holidaymakers, Sennen offers world-class surfing, while those who prefer a more sedentary or culturally enriched holiday will be delighted by the open studios and multiple galleries of Penzance, Mousehole, Marazion and Newlyn.
