A holiday home that does exactly what it's name suggests, the Zen Den is a peaceful and tranquil escape that allows those staying to relax and unwind in the heart of nature. This unique cedar cabin is found in the woods of Westley Farm in the picturesque Cotswolds.
The octagonal wooden structure has windows on seven of its eight sides, allowing light to flood into the space and those inside to watch over the beautiful surrounding woodland. Just because the Zen Den is all about getting back to nature, that doesn’t mean comfort and those little touches of luxury have been compromised. The wood burning stove allows guests to stay warm and cosy whatever the weather outside, while they relax on the giant bean bag. Meanwhile, the floating double bed boasts supreme comfort with its Egyptian cotton sheets.
Outside, next to the cabin in the woodland glade, is the Ofuro soaking tub. This Japanese version of a hot tub has been tweaked via specialists in California to provide a unique take in the traditional design. It is a square tub crafted in teak and heated by its own wood burning stove. As if that wasn’t relaxing enough, there is also a fire pit, a hammock, and deck chairs to unwind in.
There is a further decked area in weathered steel, perfect for enjoying alfresco meals prepared in the camp kitchen, which comes complete with a two-ring gas burner, and a small fridge with locally sourced essentials such as lovely local milk. The hosts also provide a bottle of bubbly to make it a stay to remember. The kitchen has hot and cold running water, while there is also a compost loo and hot outdoor shower.
Westley Farm itself is a blissful bolt hole in the Gloucestershire countryside, with rolling hills, woodland, and spectacular views all around. A canal runs along the edge of the farm and leads to the nearby market town of Stroud. The farm itself is set right in the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty and getting out and about can reveal some amazing sights - including the nearest pub, which is 20 minutes walk from your door.
