Why not enjoy a unique glamping break, in a peaceful woodland setting, on a working dairy farm close to South Downs National Park? This custom made hut is ideal for a romantic retreat or a family adventure. Nestled in the heart of the Sussex Weald and close to the river Adur, the hut enjoys a handy location between the two villages of Ashurst and Partridge Green.
A luxury shepherds hut (sleeps up to 2 adults and 2 children), also featuring a separate wood cabin with kitchen and bathroom with flushing toilet. The hut has wood burning stove and a camp fire area.
There is also space to pitch a tent for extra guests (£10 per night). A free tour of the farm and the chance to see our cows being milked for anyone interested. There are some games and books to entertain you also.
Outside, there is plenty of space to build dens and enjoy a camp fire (marshmallows provided). You are welcome to bring pets by arrangement (£10 per night). There are beautiful walks, both from the door and further afield, The Fountain, a traditional English pub, is about 15 minutes walk away across the fields.
The historic market town of Steyning is 4 miles away and the beach can be reached in 20 minutes. The shepherds hut is also 30 minutes from Brighton and within easy access of Chichester, Arundel and Lewes.
£75 per night is based on a 4 night mid-week stay, which is £300. Weekend 3 night stay is £300. £25 discount for guests bringing their own bedding and towels. Please ask about single occupancy as a writers or artists retreat.

Leave a reviewStayed in this charming place at the end of September. It is so quiet with only the wildlife and cows to disturb you. The kitchen has everything you need, with pots and pans for gas rings and the fire pit supplied. Bathroom is very well appointed bearing in mind you are in the middle of a wood. I am told the main bed is very comfortable, I slept in the pull out one which is just a little hard and really better for a child. Everything has its place and all fits in very neatly. Throughly enjoyed ourselves and will be booking again.

My husband and I stayed in Janice's hut for a little city-break. We were very impressed with the look of the place, so charming and so secluded, We couldn't ask for more. It was so exceptional and unique. The love she puts in it is visible on the place, such an eye for details. Janice was a sweetheart and made us feel very welcomed from the beginning, and the welcoming treat of milk, some organic eggs and the wine, left us speechless, very few places would provide that. Throughout, we had an amazing stay with wine and fireplace, our dog did love too, he was dead from running around. There is a pub suggested by Janice that will also stay in my heart, not just for the amazing food but also for the unique space. totally worth visiting but if you (like me some times) also fancy cooking surrounded by nature, Janice's place has a complete kitchen with all you might need. Undoubtedly we will come back and I highly suggest this place for a city-break.
